Well I was going to do one for every person but the other 993 wouldn't fit.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Not a single one I'd wager.
I'm happy - I think it's great news:T0 -

Little bit disappointed that 1000 have managed to get a job but will have to console myself with the thought that there are still millions suffering. I will just have to spend some time laughing at sick people in the local hospital - always cheers me up.0 -

I think, to the 1,000 families involved, it is well worth 1,000 exclamation marks.

Sometimes I despair at people. Why would you wish unemployment to rise? Don't you understand the distress it causes?0 -

There is no global, just a bunch of losers and a bunch of winners. At the moment we seem to be in the losers camp.
40 billion dollars of investment have flowed into the emerging economies this year. Last week's mail was awash with advice on how at least 10% of your investment portfolio should be in China/Russia etc.
Every pound invested in these other countries is a pound not invested in our own economy/resources. The lack of commitment and investment in our own people is telling.
This is my big fear on the employment front. Some of the jobs being lost are unlikely to return to these shores. Some of the banks we have bailed out have repaid our investment in them by outsourcing more skilled IT jobs. It's like they love to rub our noses in it.0 -

Who's massaging figures?- We don't have a population of 75 million (yet)
- There is only a working population of around 30 million
Nevermind, a reduction of unemployed people has got to be good news.
Ignore those that try and devalue it.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

To add our local paper did have very slight falls for the last month (0.01%)
This is a very small fall but at least it is not a gain and as meant less people have suffered last month.0 -
HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »I'm sure you realise the difference between quarterly and monthly statistics?
In the 3 months to august's cumulative total, unemployment rose.
In the last of those three months, from july to august, it fell.
So simple, even an idiot could understand it.
Remind me again why you couldn't?
yes, i saw this
apparantly it was all down to more people holidaying in UK than would normally, during July and AugustPlease take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
