my autistic child at school

Hi - my daughter is 4 and has just started school.
I wouldn't let her go round someone's house if I wasn't 100% happy. She's had 2 play dates so far and for one, I was invited with her and forthe second, the other mum came over to mine with my daughter's friend.
What I'm trying to say is that it is completely normal to go along with your kid on a play date if you don't know the parent in question particularly well.
Obviously, the alterntive is to have them over to you
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Janepig, I never meant to imply that everyone is a child abuser or that noone should ever trust other parents. However I am a parent to an autistic child and she is much less able to protect herself , in any situation, than her brothers were at the same age, because of the disability that she has. I am aware that the majority of child abuse takes place within the childs own home, however it does occur in other situations as we are all aware. I agree that there is a line between being vigilant and paranoid.0
