Birmingham Midshires 5 year bond in email

Got my forms today. (BM ones)
The ID thing is a bit of a pain given that I shred most things and don't keep lots of paper. But I managed to find some suitable evidence.

For anyone interested, just done some calculations on rates for the AA account which will presumably also apply to the BM account.

Anyone tried transferring funds from BM to AA? Part of my opening deposit is in BM, and I'm not looking forward to shunting it into my current a/c then sending them a cheque.

I think you can add funds via BACS too. I can already see my AA 5yr bond in their online service and it gives the account details for deposit by that method. I am not sure when this facility will close, possibly the same 23rd October deadline mentioned by others?

Hi guys, I've just got back from being away and have the forms and the money to send off, do you think I should send it special delivery to get there by the 23rd or just trust the 1st class stamp on the envelope? Otherwise I live in Birmingham so could get down to Wolverhampton to hand deliver it myself? And should I put something on the form saying do not take my money if its not for the 90 day penalty? I obviously don't want to end up actually in a 5 year bond. cheers

Special delivery is guaranteed next day - so if you do it today it should be there tomorrow pre postal strike.

special delivery is only £5.... i guess it depends on how much you're saving. i'm going to try my luck with first class stamp

Posted my inital deposit cheque on Sat past and the cheque has cashed today. That has not taken anything like the 10 banking days they indicated on the welcome letter. :j

Received my confirmation letter today and this is now all set up. How have others fared? Is this closed for further deposits?

I phoned them the other day to confirm they'd got two CHAPS transfers I'd made and asked if I'd be able to see it online with the other accounts I've got with them. Was told yes, no problem but I'd need to go through all the security stuff including parts of our passwords. Did that and asked if my wife could do the same, yes no problem. Was on the phone for over 20 minutes. When would we be able to see it? Was told within a few minutes.

Half hour later I tried to log in to try it, and couldn't. Then checked my email and found they'd reset both our passwords. Had to use the temporary pw they'd sent, set up all the security questions again on both accounts and was then able to log in. It was just the same as before and still couldn't see the new accounts. They'd also sent both temporary passwords to me which would have allowed me to access my wife's account rather than sending it to the email address she registered with them. We've since had confirmation that they've got our money, just hope they remember where they've put it. :rolleyes:

Would be interested to hear if anyone has better luck with them.
