She needs to see a Solicitor and fast. they are married, so the question of whose name the house is in is not quite as straightforward as if they were not. From a practical point of view, if she changes the locks, who will then look after the children. She may need to think quickly about what she would like to see her role in the children's life being...

From the information so far provided, I agree that she should be moving out and looking to pay maintenance - with hubbie looking to remortgage and buy her out or downsize - unlikely with several children - or to sell the house and split and the money when the youngest child is 18.

Hi guys-wow! I can't believe all of the advice-thank you so much! She told him this morn that she needs to get sorted and poss go to the CAB; she was going to see a solicitor but realises she has no money to pay as like most of us what she earns is swallowed up by the bills. Is she able to get help with solicitor fees in any way does anyone know?

I'm just so angry that he seems to be playing mind games with her; she seems to getting a bit more stronger and focused onto getting something sorted but I can only imagine how hard it must be to go through this with kids involved and I think she's worried about being on her own

Most solicitors do an initial half hour free, but I think the point here is it's worth spending a bit of money to salvage a lot more/ salvage a relationship with her children. The solicitor will advise whether Legal Aid is available, unlikely as she is working.
