  • Can they be straight with this??

They are claiming they'll make enough from their advertising to repay them for a half a million pound house. Okay, I see how that could work.

But they only have about a dozen advertisers, and three of those are charities.

Surely they would have to be taking a lot more adverts, from larger businesses, to make half a million??

Also, I entered for the first time yesterday, and made the weekly list after about four entries.

I'll keep trying while I watch the telly, but it does seem a bit, well, unlikely... <shrug>

I think the thing to remember is that they have lived there for twelve years so.

    1. It would have been a lot cheaper when they bought it.
    2. They have paid their mortgage for twelve years.
So it doesn't need that much to pay off the house. They have extended the end date up to the 21 weeks they allowed themselves.
:D I am in the final 21 so I'm staying very positive about this. :D

  • Wow! Well done Timmers and Glowgirl on your wins!
It's nice when you win something big because it encourages you to keep going, doesn't it?

Timmers...I'm sure someone will want your dodgy undies! :rotfl:Maybe we should start a "swap" board on this forum where you can offer to swap dodgy prizes you will never make use of!

I can think of some I could have given away! :rotfl:

Sadly I'm pretty sure you're right. The page views are abyslmal for this site and coupled with the ads not beig high earers...I can't see it making the 800K (they want more than the house price remember) . It would be a valid point that they had paid less for it, and they paid the thing off for years... but they have been spending on it and also likely borrowed agaist ot for the business that put them in this spot in the first place I think? A lot of wild and impulsive daydream business going on i Bradford I think.
Saying that, given enough extensions on time it could produce a smaller win which would be worth the effort for them and us. It IS free so we ca't moan can we? :p

I think we'll still be here in a year....assuming the house isn't repod by then...giving the finalists a 50/1 shot roughly. I bet if I check the page views now it will have dropped as people lost interest...also reducing ad income.
Why the hell aren't there any Google ads or others on there I don't now.

bizywizy..i did that on the daily winner Q....missed the replay part and got the answer wrong 1st time. That's not something to do . You only get limited attempts.

GL and thx all ...2 little wins already today here, a nice start to a freezing day :)

I'd still prefer a 50/1 chance of winning the house then not to try at all, though 20/1 is better for me :p It's better odds then the lottery and it cost nothing but a bit of time.

It would suit us fine with the downstairs bedroom that OH needs and the other bedroom on a different floor for DD, it sounds good to me.

I think one of the things that doesn't come across well is the fact that these people have run their own business' for 22 year, which is no mean feat. They managed to buy this lovely house only twelve years ago, so the business must have been doing well and they must have been competent.
Ok so they made a bit of a c*** up, but we don't know their circumstances at the time.
The could have been working all the hours god sends trying to save their business. One of my family is doing this atm, trying to keep his staff in full time work, thankfully he has office staff to keep on top of finance. Many years ago my fathers business was brought down by large companies that dragged their heels when it was time to pay. This still happens, probably to a larger extent as everyone wants to keep the money in their banks as long as possible.
I really think that they are trying to do something positive to get back on track and people are too quick to kick someone for trying something a bit different. This is probably why they are having problems getting the advertising. There was a lot of scoffing by the press and public when they first aired their idea.
I am still staying positive. :D
