Help painted over newly plastered wall.

Options
Hi there wonder if anyone can give me any advice. We had our kitchen replastered about 12 months ago. Unfortunately we made the mistake of painting straight onto the walls once they had dried. We have had problems ever since with the paint always peeling. We have got to sand the wall about every 6 weeks and re-paint them. Anyone got any ideas as what i can do to stop the paint from peeling. Many thanks in advance.

I had the same thing happen to me many years ago. Solution was to paint two/three coats of very diluted emulsion paint onto the wall as a wash. THen normal emulsion.

Your problem is you need to prime newly plastered surface's.
You need to get all the existing emulsion off!
Then paint with a diluted emulsion, 80% emulsion, 20% water, just one good coat will do. Then paint as normal.
If you can't get all the existing paint off, paint over it with the above then apply a coat of Dulux Trade Super grip primer, which you can buy from your nearest Dulux Decorator centre. Then paint as normal.

Thanks tomstickland and paulwill8 for your advice. Do you know if i would be able to buy the Dulux Trade Super grip primer from B and Q or Focus. They are the only decorating places near to us. We do have a Wickes but they only sell their own brands. Thanks again your advice is much appreciated.

I doubt you can get it at b&q etc. Maybe b&q wharehouse.
Click on the link bekow and there is a store finder on their site. Lots of the decorator centres will deliver.

When we re plastered we were told to use a paint called oblitterating (sp) paint. It's for newly plastered walls. I am sure the above is now correct as you have already painted. Also you do need to use kitchen & bathroom type paint otherwise it will always peel off with the condensation.

Thanks for posting this i'm having the same problem in my kitchen,
I waited for it to dry out, glue sized it, waited again before painting, still peeled in certain places, it's getting on my nerves. Thanks OP.
