Nothing wrong with McDonalds. A job is a job. Better than the JSA queue.
You will be surprised the amount of people working for McDonalds with a degree!Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!

Hey don't be ashamed. You've got nothing to be ashamed about! Times are really tough and jobs are hard to come by, and at the end of the day it's a job, paying a wage, that suits your requirements hours wise. There are so many people sitting on JSA whining that they can't get a job and would rather go hungry than work in McDOnalds, so well done you. DOn't worry about your colleagues either, there's lots of people working there who aren't teenagers.
I notice you also have a Law degree. Well done. At least you have the intelligence to know you won't be there forever, unlike some of your less fortunate colleagues.
As for the interview, I can't help you i'm sorry :-)I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
Totally agree with what others have said.
You are doing an honest job! Hold your head high and enjoy it. Just think free burgers :-) xx0 -

Actually you only get one free meal. LOL. Don't get paid at breaks.
But...... got to admit, McDonalds are one of the worlds best donators! The amount of work they do and money they give to charities is immense.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

OP, I have had some real cruddy jobs. Those little packs of elastics bands you can buy - I used to weigh the bands, pack them and staple them to the cards. The big boxes of bands - I used to weigh them and pack them too. BUT, the money was mine, I earned it and no it was not the greatest job in the world but it got me by until I was able to find something better.
I've also worked in a great job with some really, really REALLY crap people and I've worked on crap jobs with really, really nice people - the age of people really does not mean anything at all. There are lots of people 30+ in our local MacDonalds for many reasons, one being that the work fits around their kids.
Good luck with your interview, please do not see it as being a bad thing, think of it as the experience you need to move on. It'll show your potential employer that you are ready to do anything rather than nothing and I think this makes a huge difference too.0 -
at the end of the day, Mcdonalds is one of the biggest and certainly the most recognised company in the whole world !!0

The big difference these days is that the introduction of min wage has created a bit of a level playing field with jobs. Whereas catering jobs used to have appalling pay these days they pay the same if not better than a lot of other jobs. Chances are with your age and experience you'll get promoted to a supervisor position very quickly, McD's for all their faults are known to be good with their management training.
It might not sound a glamorous job but you'll be earning more and getting a lot less stress than in a lot of respected jobs.0 -
Thanxs everyone for being sooo supportive (its why l luv this site;))
l suppose you are all right, and at the end of the day work is work.... with the state of affairs knowadays even a job a Mcdonalds is a blessing!!!
l can just imagine what my brothers and sisters will say when they find out, they will take the p!ss sooo bad....they`ll rip me to shreds lolzzz
to be honest im just looking forwards to getting out the house abit more and meeting new people.
regardless of having a degree it has in no way helped me to get anywhere, i`ve struggled to even get interviews at supermarkets forget about a Law Firm, their not even willing to take on volunteers or unpaid workers (things must be really bad).:T LLB HONS :T

Good luck in your interview! Working in the serving area is hard work (if that is indeed what you're going to do) so I don't see the shame in it tbh. Better than some office jobs in fact. Just don't make the mistake of giving small fries when the customer asks for a large one!0
