  • If all else fails there are thousands of Vegetable recipes online that are quite frankly reliable and delicious. The Gaurdian and other Broadsheet Recipe pages are full of reliable stuff. (But that make not be answering your need).

I have some butter beans, kidney beans, black beans and some red lentils to use up. Any suggestions for recipes to use them?
  • Hi,

wow super ingredients, I would make a mixed bean chilli or curry, use the lentils as well for bulk.

    here are some threads

    Butter beans

    Kidney beans

You could play about and make some sort of hummous using the beans or bean pate? Im sure google has loads of recipes

    What about veggie burgers?

Chilli is the obvious suggestion :D

This has became my favourite chilli recipe with extra cumin and lime - yummy! I make it with quorn beef so could easily be veggie. I add extra chillis for extra kick

    these threads may also help

help me find a way to like beans and pulses

    red lentils

    ill merge this later:A

I would not go with a chilli in this weather! How about bean burgers? This is a great recipe me and my friend tried the other day, assuming you have some bulger wheat in (incidentally has anyone noticed it is now half the price of buckwheat in Mr T, whereas they used to be the other way round?!)

    Bean Burgers

We just boiled the bulgar wheat, whizzed the onion mix and fried it, then whizzed the bean part (leaving a few whole ones for texture) and it made it so quick and easy! They held together so well we cooked them on the BBQ! Only criticism is they need some kind of sauce - ketchup is fine, some kind of relish would be even better
    :)

I used to make bean pate a lot, sometimes adding roasted veg or sesame oil. It's basically a load of beans into the blender with enough oil to loosen it a little. Served with veg sticks or crackers/ melba toast.

For the butter beans try a girl called Jack's recipe for Gigantes Plaki, we had it a few weeks ago and it has been repeated a couple of times as it was such a hit with adults and kids. It tastes fantastic hot and cold.
