LTSB Can YOU send online sameday FPs

At least payments (up to £500) that do go through, whether as SOs or BPs, all seem to get there the same day.
Granted, they need to be set up in advance but it means your money is always earning interest and not in limbo for two days.
I transferred 10K to 1 recipient in 10 transactions on Sunday PM - and they were received immediately - that would have taken over a week at £500 every other day:rolleyes: (OK I know I coud send 10K in 1 go by BACS but still 4 days).0 -
Wonder if it is being rolled out across account numbering ranges?
My FP transfers were all done from my sole account (starting 1).
As a test I have set-up a new payee (one to which I sent previous FPs from my sole acc) on my joint acc (starting 6) and put in a transaction for £1 - no FP its scheduled for tomorrow
So I can send FP from my sole account but not from our joint acc
My account is a sole account and starts with 150 -
No instant FP for me on any of my three Classic Vantage accounts.
Started working today (14th Oct) on all three accounts - fingers crossed for no more cash machine visits
Sadly, only worked for that one day and all instant payments attempted since have indicated as BACS and not faster payments transactions - disappointing. At least I can see whether payments will go instantly or not before the payment is sent, which is better than some other banks.0 -
50 years plus with Lloyds
Current Vantage account starts 010....
Have tried today to send £1K to Halifax.
Tried £1K, then £500, then £400 online, but all quoted earliest as 14th i.e. tomorrow.
Telephoned and the girl got only one payment sent through as FP for £500. It appeared instantly with Halifax. I asked her to try again for the 2nd £500 but it refused. She said wait a couple of hours and try again.
Tried again online, but no joy.
Rang for 2nd time today and the guy tried, but it refused any amount.
Plenty of money in account of course. Said there is a daily limit of £500.
So the idea of trying it in smaller batches didn't seem to work for me.
I have noticed that other payments to Halifax and Natwest, which appear to go out the following day (i.e. after 11 p.m. at night with Lloyds), also arrive the same day with the other bank.
Is it a case of the bank itself has a daily quota of amounts they will allow to go through and it depends on the time of day you try? Maybe we should all try say around 9 a.m. or so?0 -
After seeing you were haivng trouble, mary, I tried making some test payments earlier today from Lloyds out (to First Direct) which were received instantly. Can't say why you have been unlucky, though (Have you tried sending sub £1 amounts yet?).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

Did a bit more testing...
1) classic vantage (sole account) sameday FP works OK
2) 2nd classic vantage (sole acount) - same sort code same balance as above - no sameday FP
3) classic gold (joint acc) - different sortcode - no sameday FP
So it's not based on type of acc/sort code/balance/person/length of service -whats left?
Phoned LTSB to ask - there were no changes on Sunday/Monday (well there were for me) - and beyond that "we know nothing!!!"0 -

Total randomness ;-)
As evidence, I present the following:
At about 2pm today, I set up payments to go to Halifax and First Direct, as mentioned above - and neither went FP.
About 15 minutes ago, I deleted the payment which was scheduled to go to Halifax tomorrow, and set up a new one for £200 instead - and it was sent immediately, via FP. Received in Halifax account seconds later.
So I deleted the FD payment and set it up again - for £100 again - and it set it for tomorrow's date again.
Then I tried sending £100 to Halifax again - immediate FP.
Rhyme or reason? None that I can see! Still...good to see moves in the right direction :-)0 -
Well blow me down...
Just did a FP to my Abbey account. Result!!
Now, to get that 1p back to my LTSB account - will probably take 3-4 days
EDIT: Easy way to tell is when you enter the amount to transfer, it will either say:
Please allow three to four working days for payments to reach the payee including any new payment arrangements to another Lloyds TSB account.
or
We will confirm your payment once it has been processed.
..... and the 1p *IS* coming back to me via BACS! Good old Abbey!I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

Changed to Classic Vantage a couple of weeks ago, held Classic Plus account prior to that for about 20 months.
On Sunday afternpon set up new payee (impressed by the automated phone call to check that it was me setting up the payment) and selected "as soon as possible" for the payment, thinking it would be Monday but it was deducted from my account immediately and onscreen message that it had been accepted by the payee bank (HSBC). It was for just over £750.
I have not complained to them in the past re FPO not being possible.0
