When exactly do the Jobcentre check the reason that you left previous job???!

I handed in my resignation for my last job back on the 9th September,
I did it through email to my boss, and through paper copy.
I hated the job alot because the boss was a total nighmare to work for, was willing to keep doing it for the money,
but was basically told my manager that he was going to do my appraisal and give me a really bad one that would have my employment terminated..,
But so asked to instead of that happening for me to resign, so that for future jobs i could put down that i had resigned not been fired.
And so i resigned on the 9th.
Am allowed to either resigned immediately or give 2weeks notice, and so i chose to do the 2weeks notice, as i had already booked off 2weeks annual leave for that 2weeks,
and so i would be able to get paid for it still this way.
Plus the manager agreed to put me on the rota for the next 3days, but that i didnt have to come in and work, but that he'd still sign me in for them.
So id get £324 extra for those 3days + the 2weeks pay for annual leave.
The only problem i had with this was that i knew that if i resigned i wouldnt be able to get JSA and LHA.
And so i told him this, he went into his office for about 10mins and spoke to the HR department on the phone to workout how this could be sorted out for me,
and then just told me to make sure that for all benefits claims i gave his name and address, not the head office's, and that he would make sure it all went fine with no problems for me.
I got a letter from the head office about 3weeks ago, and then the same letter last weekend,
which was dated the 30th september,
and which said ''we are terminating your probabtionary contract due to poor performance... ect''.
Which is good, as this way i can show that to JSA if they start getting funny or asking any questions about me resigning.
However theres 2 problems with this-
This letter is dated the 30th september, when i made my claim for LHA on the 14th, JSA on the 25th.
And so if the head office are going to be saying that my contract was only terminated on the 30th, then its going to look like i tried to claim before my contract had ended.
(Even though thats not true, as i had been told by my manager to resign and leave on the 9th september, and so that was the last day that i actually worked on)
And 2nd problem is i need to send a letter to the head office notifying them that they weren't legally able to actually fire me on the 30th,
as i had already handed in my 2weeks notice on the 9th, to start from the 11th, so ending on the 24th.
And so from the 24th september onwards i was no longer an employee of the company or had any contractual obligations to them whatsoever.
And therefore any attempt to then fire me 6days later on the 30th would simply be invalid.
And so i will tell them to update my file accordingly for any future reference to reflect this.
However i need to time that letter correctly, as to not send it too soon so that they recieve it before the Jobcentre have contacted them...,
But cant send it too late, as i have some other applications where i have put down resigning for the reason why i left my last job,
and so i cant leave it too long or they will have contacted thehead offic before ive had my file updated.
So does anyone know how long after making your claim for jsa and after having your 1st sign-on interview when you give them all the documents,
does it take till they will have written to your previous employer and asked if you resigned from your last job or were fired??
Thanks

When they get to it, basically. Depends how busy they are.
I'm not even sure what you are asking, is your question related to leaving voluntary/dismissal and the effect those things would have on benefits?0 -
I got bored after the first few words. What exactly do you want to know?Gone ... or have I?0

Why didn't you just say that in the first place?
Answer: How long is a piece of string? Could be anything up to three months in the current climate.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Dont they do it in teh 1st week or 2weeks when you start your claim??
Cos i need to write to the company to get them to correct my file to showing that i actually resigned,
not that i was fired,
as i did resign.
But i cant do that until i know the jobcentre has already written to them and confirmed that ive been fired.0 -

They do it when they know people are trying to lie to them.
Well said!
Sorry OP, but I think you may have had more help if you had simply asked your question, rather than give the whole story, as IMO i honestly believe you are trying to fix the system, which i believe is wrong, and i suspect im not the only person who feels this. You certainly shouldnt be advertising the fact on a public forum. Just my 2 bobs worth though and im sure plenty will disagree10k in 2010 - £350.77 :beer:0 -
Ive always been honest and happy to admit the ways in which i have leveraged the benefits systems (through immoral but not illegal methods) so that i can continue affording to live (although barely).
However this time, for once, i am actually havent done anything wrong or immoral,
and so shouldnt have to be in the situation of worrying and having to 'sort things out' to cover myself from any problems.
Since i didnt actually choose to leave that job that day, (although i had actually been intending on quitting that evening).
But at lunchtime when the action all happen i was told directly by my boss as basically a direct command to hand in my resignation.
And so i simply obeyed the command that my boss gave me and did what he told me to do.0 -
It is not beyond the realms of possibility that staff in Job Centres read the posts on here, you know!0

Whether people on here agree with your methods or not, you will not find MSE is a place where you are told how to defraud the system.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
