Tesco's Coupons

I must admit I did join one of the threads after personally viewing some of the comments as too below the belt as opposed to just an opinion. Having followed many posts through I still cannot see Martin was ultimately to blame.
Many of those I had opposing opinions with, did take it just as that and did welcome me to their coupon thread. Sadly I don't have their stamina to find all the bargains everywhere and can only add the occasional non-tesco item.
I found the couponers had found many new avenues to save - basically comparing offers everywhere and in some cases I'm sure some of them at least are now better off than before. Despite the downturn and grievances, the spirit of people has not changed as they still bargain hunt and have offered a lot more bargains to the site.
To keep the peace, perhaps it would be a good time to discuss the pros and cons of publicising more widely the different bargains of each supermarket. A few starters:
1) It would increase competition between supermarkets to come up with good offers.
2) It could turn sour by people only buying the offers and in large quantities.0 -

I can`t help thinking the motives for criticising M are on the lines of `I`m on to a good thing, don`t tell anyone else`.
I completely agree!! very well put:T0 -
Wow. To start with, after reading the coupons thread, I tried it once. I bought a newspaper in Asda, and later redeemed £1 or so off my shop in Tesco- just to see if it worked.
However, on further reading of the coupon thread I was seeing tales of how people were paying "pence" for a weekly shop for a family of 18, their two Alpaca's and a pet lizard called Doris. My first thought- Tesco's won't tolerate that for long.
Everyone who has boasted on that thread about how much they manipulated the loophole is responsible for someone else giving it a try...someone elses Aunt...and it snowballing.
It's one thing to try to save a few pounds here and there on a shop- legitimately as was policy- another entirely to flout the loophole to within an inch of it's life.
If you were trotting into Tesco's, and walking out having paid £1.80 for a £50 trolley full of shopping- did you think you were the only one? Did you not think that there were many like you in every store up & down the country? Did you honestly think it could continue forever?
And how can you let yourself become completely dependent on a ropey policy that was/was not adhered to depending on the shop assistants menstrual cycle in order to eat?
I recently found an offer on wine in Sainsburys. They had a good red down to £1 a bottle, with a 25% discount on 6. I bought 6 bottles, left the rest for someone else, and came back & posted the find. There was no way I'd have exploited it so far that no-one else had a chance to benefit. MSE-and it's members- have provided me with bargains and opportunities galore. I'll reciprocate whenever I can.
We are in a tough economic climate. You only have to read the coupons section to see that Tesco have been tightening up their policy for some time as it was being pushed to the limits left right and center. What Martins broadcast did was provide them with a scapegoat.
Shame on you if, after hearing about coupon use via this site, or ever taking advantage of something you'd heard about in one of Martin's broadcasts, you've now thrown your teddy from the pram.

Right.
I think we've now had a large number of threads on this. Opinions on both sides. I've read the views written and taken them on board - including those who argue that it should've have happened.
And now I think rather than allowing this to progress into a slanging match between people its best that we all hold back and I close the thread and we get on with saving money.
Thank you for all your contibributions
