Tesco's Coupons

I always found it a bit hard to believe that Tesco were accepting coupons for items people didn't buy; it just didn't add up.
Sure it's been good to milk it whilst it was there, but it couldn't go on for ever, could it?
As for this site, I think it's great here, and it saves me money.
And that's what it's for, isn't it?0 -

More members, more bargains, tips etc yeah remember Nappygate from Boots, lets keep it all to ourselves and cause great ill - feeling on the Boots Grabbit thread, because believe me that and you personally was what started the sad demise of the Boots thread.
And if you don't think the deleted posts were personal to Martin and the team then you obviously didn't see the deleted posts that I saw.
I would ask that any Boots Grabbit users don't get involved with this and cause any more bannings, thank you.
Name change here? I for one really miss the Boots Grabbit thread overall it was very friendly0 -
I for one think MSE is the greatest site on the net. I was introduced to it by my husband about 5 years ago and I credit it for saving my life. I am in severe financial difficulty due to a bad marriage and am struggling to repay a load of debt. If it was not for this site I would not be now dealing with these debts and thanks to the Debt Free threads I have had £15000 plus off debt written off already.
I also was an avid member of the Boots thread before it was closed down and believe if people are not careful we may lose the whole site. Everyone should realise how great this is and what a great person Martin is. It seems that a greedy few always ruin it for others! This is just my opinion and I am entitled to it0 -
am i missing the points of some of the posters elsewhere but arent you saying that you used to be able to go to carphone warehouse with your £10 gift voucher from B&Q and buy what you wanted, but now your not allowed to do it??
that is just outrageous isnt it
if you used to rely on coupons to feed your family then you need to cut back on other spending, go to the benefits office and see what your entitled to, look on the old style board to see hundreds of different ways to live healthily on next to no money
alot of people who are on the bread line do not rely on coupons but also live on next to nothingI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Well that sums it up if you don't like it go forth and multiply Thanks Martin sums up exactly how you feel about those who work tirelessly on here to help other members and give you ideas to use which keep you in work with new campaigns and ideas.
No I'm not being nasty am very grateful for the forum and its members.Barclaycard 3800

1. Martin was completely correct to highlight the savings to be made through coupons. The site is for everyone to save money, not just a clique.
2. The only abuse has been Tescum bullying suppliers into redeeming coupons for goods that haven`t sold, (tescum bully consumers too with their atrocious customer relations).
3. Inconsistency was the biggest problem with the previous system. I`d like to see coupons return with a realistic limit like `maximum non spend coupons £20, or 20 unique`.That would have nipped in the bud much of the Brum problems.
4. Look at alternatives. LIDL provide MUCH higher quality for cheaper than Tescum.Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

In my opinion the people who are complaining about not being able to use cuoupons for items they havent bought need to be grateful for being able to play the system for as long as they did. It's like a child having a paddy because they have had something taken off them. Would you attempt to use one the the 241 restaurant vouchers in a restaurant that hadn't issued it?

Thanks for the replies.
Of course I appreciate the tireless work of many on the forums who helped people spot coupons (and other deals) and we thank them on many occassions and try and give credit.
Sorry you feel the post of my that MSE Archie put up was like personal spin - but frankly I was actually out of the country on my honeymoon but still felt it important enough to interrupt that to spend some time replying (please respect my privacy and keep that fact buried in this post - I try to keep such things quiet). Though of course I wasn't going to start trailing round the boards to find posts.
As for apologising for doing the GMTV slot - that would be inappropriate as I dont mean it. That slot wasn't the first time I'd spoken about coupons or talked about it in the media - spreading the word about what is possible is what I do.
This week's tip will contain a savings account trick to get peopel 5.15% interest - we'll close it probably within a day with all the people doing it. I still think that I should tell people about it and spread the word - thats what we're hear to do.
Am I sorry it happened - of course, though Im surprised it lasted as long as it did. Yet I can't apologise for broadcasting methods of saving money and trying to encourage people to help themselves and I doubt anyone would want me to apologise without meaning it.
As for the reports that Tesco blame me - I think its a nice and convenient spin. As noted the impact of a GMTV broadcast in terms of active participants is small compared to the impact from the weekly e-mail.
I have read all the feedback above, and taken it on board. Im not going to follow up on this as Im not sure what else there is to say.
Thanks for your time

to all other s
its a real shame tescos dropped thier coupon policy it was great while it lasted but like some of the deals on here they dont last forever and you cant expect to live your entire live by themReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
I love this site, it has saved me a fortune and taught me a lot of valuable lessons.
As for the Tesco coupons, it has been a long time coming but I think this was just the straw that broke the camel's back, mainly due to some people pushing it just that little bit too far.
I love the comps section too, a lot of competitions I would not find otherwise (a few of which I have won things on!).
Most of all, it feels like quite an achievement if I can get home and share something with the whole site, be it a bargain or upcoming events, something I have posted first!
Keep the site exactly as it is Martin, it's as near perfect as you can get.
Loved your week on Countdown by the way! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
