  • Thanks to all those who recommended Hatton Garden Metals. I was really impressed. I posted the envelope yesterday morning, got home today to find they'd transferred £470 into my bank account! :TYou can't get much quicker than that! Not bad for a fairly small amount of earrings that I haven't worn for years ( from ex-partner with poor taste in jewellery! ).

Posted £2500 of gold on Monday to Birmingham by Special Delivery for delivery Tues am. It never arrived. Tracking says it is still in the system. It arrived in the Birmingham Mail Centre Tuesday am but never left according to my information. I phoned up customer services and was told it should be delivered on Wednesday but it wasn't and still nothing on Thursday. It looks as though it has gone missing along with a few others for the same destination. Anyone know what the chances are of it turning up after 3 days? It is very worrying as I buy gold to help the local Childrens Hospice. Another thought that comes to mind is the postal gold scenario. People who send gold without knowing its value are in a difficult situation if it gets lost.
  • I emailed Hatton Garden Metals yesterday asking if they took gold rings with diamonds (and other stones) or if they were solely just a gold dealer. As yet I haven't had any response to my email & I also have tried calling them 4 times (but no answer, it just rings out).

So my gut feeling is not to send stones (obviously this is simply a gut feeling and not fact). But based on what 'fimorg' has said on here - it highlights the matter in hand. So, due to the praise they have received I will send my gold only.

Thanks 'fimorg' for your useful info as it's answered the question I put to HGM.

  • Hi,
I'm just wondering how you managed to get through to these people? I've sent gold off to them, had an email confirming that they received the pack I sent, but since then heard nothing. I've sent numerous emails, but not had any replies. I've tried and tried to call them, but all I get is an answerphone message saying that they're not available... Did you ring a different number to the one on the website?
    Thanks...

Hi there, I originally got sent a cheque for £35 and rang the number on the advertising about 5 times complaining, sent the cheque back with a letter, I then got offered £70 then finally £120, however I have now realised I can get more elsewhere so I am getting it returned to me. Just keep calling them, they will eventually ring back but seem not to want to ring mobile numbers!!!

Hi i can totally totally recommend Hatton Garden metals!!
I phoned them yesterday, they answered quickly and answered my questions, then sent the stuff off yesterday lunch(special delivery £6.50ish).
Got an email, and bank credit of £322 by 2pm today.
Im so made up, i cant belive how quick and easy it was, as i was slightly worried about postal delay.
The most difficult bit was using my rubbish old scales which did not weigh it correctly, but i put a note about this on my print out.
Great money saver, thanks for the tip.

Personally I would avoid Hatton Garden purely because of the pathetic and excessive spamming they've resorted to in this thread and can't believe it's got past the moderators!

Just so any trusting types who are reading this thread know - if you see a post giving a glowing recommendation for a company from a user who has only just joined and with only that one post, take it with a large pinch of salt (Tallulah above is a perfect example, also see page one and all the supposed Hatton Garden 'Recommendations')

PS: By my count there 9 spam posts in this thread, all of which are now reported.

I recommended hatton garden in this thread because I genuinely used them (I have an email receipt to prove it as well as the money in my bank account) and I am also a newbie to this forum but I intend to stick around!

Just concerned if by your definition I am a spammer!!!
  • Yes im new, and i have used Hatton Graden Metals, and want to pass on my good news.Check my other posts about charges reclaiming if you want to validate me!
Because im new does it mean my opinion dos'nt count?
I didnt realise i had to post lots of times before i was good enough or could comment on my money saving!
Thanks to people who did pass on the saving advice, i hope others find it useful and save money towards paying off their halifax overdraft like i have in the panic of £1 a day charges.

Seems I am not alone. Several other 'Gold' packages have gone missing from Birmingham mail centre over the last few days. Make sure you pay the little extra for compensation, ask the post office how much the parcel weighs and multiply that by 7.5 to get the level of compensation you need! (eg 200 gms x £7.50 = £1500).

Perhaps you two should actually READ my post before getting on your high horse:
if you see a post giving a glowing recommendation for a company from a user who has only just joined and with only that one post, take it with a large pinch of salt
Have the spam posts now been removed? Yes. Were they all the posts I reported? Yes. Are your posts still present? Yes. You do the maths

There are a lot of trustworthy people on this forum who may not recognise spam and people were getting taken in by blatant untrustworthy spam posts, I was merely pointing it out so they can make a proper informed decision about the company (and their 'methods') AND to see the recommendations that are genuine.
