EGG - Letters sent, no response

I am attempting to reclaim from Egg, i have now sent two letters, both by recorded delivery but have had no response. The latest was sent on the 22nd September, i have just attempted to track the letter using Royal Mails web site and it says the letter is in their delivery network. My last letter is untraceable apparently.

Anyone know what this means or had similar problems?

    Hi there

As there have been some disputes in regards of the post, maybe it would be a good idea to ring the Royal mail and also EGG, EGG will have to confirm delivery, sometimes when also checking on the tracking on the website, even though it have been delivered, it does not always confirm it on the site, annoying I know.

Otherwise I would say if you have not heard anything at all by 8 weeks, then continue to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), good luck, please let us know, cheers.;)

  • Hi,
Just thought I'd give you my experience with Egg. I sent my letter to them using their secure messaging service (before I read the advice on here to send recorded delivery). Amazingly, two days later I got an acknowledgement email. I have since had two letters through the post saying my complaint is being dealt with (same letters!). This is very recent so it might be worth giving this a go. Their messaging service is quite good in that it stores your message and any responses. Good Luck

  • I too had problems with Egg (recorded letters were sent but not signed for etc) - after 8 weeks I contacted the ICO who accepted that as long as I had proof of sending (which I did), then this constituted proof of delivery too.....

the ICO wrote to Egg and told them to respond .... and they didn't!!

In the end - I telephoned the FOS - who immediately opened a complaint ... I had a response from Egg within a week!

  • thanks for the above guys, I have still received no response to my letters. I have tried chasing through royal mail who just tell me that after 15 days my letter is officially lost and i can file a claim. Brilliant, how on earth do i go about getting a letter delivered though. I will try the secure messaging like the OP. I'll keep you all posted, thanks again
  • Thanks for the tip MissHennyPenny. After filing my letter using Eggs Secure Messaging system i have now received a response. They acknowledge my complaint, it has been passed to customer services and i will receive a letter in writing within 5 days.
  • Another update, i have now received a letter from Egg acknowledging my complaint. They state that they will respond within 10 weeks of my complaint. seems like a long time, is this right?

Sounds like they must be busy but you only usually give a firm 8 weeks for a full and final response. I bet its cause of lots of complaints in at the moment. You can however go to FOS after the 8 weeks but another couple of weeks should not hurt as FOS has a long waiting list of anything from 12 to 18 months. It may be that they uphold the decision so here hoping and good luck.
  • Hi All,

Sorry for tagging this onto this post but I wasn't brave enough to start a new one!!!

I have had a letter back from the FOS regarding my complaint with Egg Banking Plc and their Payment Protection requesting that I send them a copy of my CCA Credit Agreement along with any other documentation that confirms the cost of any cover provided.

I obviously like many other people I hope don't have a clue where this might be and I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction to get this information. Do I contact Egg directly? I have tried on-line but my account is now closed.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    Longword

    Hi Longword hope your well.;)

You write to them, and enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, and ask that they send you this by 12 days, just a simple letter will do, and post by recorded delivery.

However, for even more info, you could always request a Subject Access Request (SAR), and enclose £10 cheque or postal order, where they have 40 days to comply and send everything they still hold on you.
    Template letter for this here:

    Again recorded delivery.;)

    Good luck
