Yes, I have. Go and post on the Briskoda forum and ask them which one is better and most will agree that the Mk1 felt more like a hot hatch than the Mark 2. At no point did I claim the Mk1 was faster.

No just more nippy and responsive=faster

    I'm also a regular on the Briskoda forum,having owned 2 vrs's,
Many of the mk2 vrs owners have traded in their mk1s,and most agree they are much better, myself included.

Irrelevent argument anyway because I think the OP will struggle to get a mk2 with his budget.

Just an update, took an Alfa GT 2.0 JTS 2d out for a test drive. I have to say it looked absolutely stunning! It wasn't hair raisingly fast, well it was faster than my Focus(97bhp) anyway! The interior was pretty funky and the ride was nice and comfortable. Not sure what to do now lol! I will take out a CTR for a test drive, just have to decide if I want the extra bhp with a faster car or sack it and get the Alfa..which is the best looking car from my shortlist!

  • search pistonheads. as with all seats ibiza they have water ingress problems for some reason havent met an owner who dont have the problem plus the turbo give out on em sometime after 70k thats about £700 for new one golf gti .ibiza's air flow meters go down on them and are reasonably priced if you revert back to the original bosch one if its been replaced with aftermarket i.e fuelparts or intermotor ones. 6k could get you a very nice powerfull escort rs turbo with lots of extra's but since you want 04 on the mk1 focus rs is coming down in price better than st170! and a hell of alot more fun.
