Easily increase the value again. Start a pogrom. You'll know who needs to be driven out.0 -
Who exactly, OP, are you looking to sue?
The journalists who wrote the stories?
The editors who included them?
The printers? The distributors?
Wow. You could make millions! Good luck with that...0 -
There has been alot of media attention in my road, the past couple of weeks and all for the wrong reasons.
I bought my house in 2007 for 106 thou, according to the survey it was "in a state of disrepair", but I liked it and has a good size garden. I've had all the windows/doors replaced with double glazing, loft insulated, new boiler and new electric circuit board, the previous one was dangerous. Some houses are full sale in my road and they have all bought there prices down. One has gone on the market for £80 thou and another which is nice and has been decorated nice with a conservertory has bought the price down to 97 thou.
Would I be able to claim compensation from the media and if I could, how do I go about it?
Maybe you could sue, but more importantly did you have the walls painted in the right magnolia paint and did you put down cheap laminate flooring. That way you double the value.

If that's where the OP lives, one can see why s/he would be very keen to move. But TBH, the media reporting is clearly not the problem, the problem is the area.0 -

Sue the bank for forcing you to buy the property with borrowed money as it told you house prices would only ever rise.
Alternatively why not reside in your property and enjoy the benefits of your improvements. Buying is cheaper than renting.0 -

The problem isn't the area. The area is a lifless thing that neither reacts or interacts. The problem is the little (or not so little) !!!!!!!s that are allowed to run wild with little or no action taken to stop them.
These things rather than being ignored should be stamped on heavily immediately they begin. These thugs blight the lives of good people all over the country and it's time it was stopped. Forget the "he comes from a bad home" sh it. Lock the fookers up! Then lock their bas tard parents up too. It's time to put all this liberal s hit behind us and get tough on the scum that are taking over in our poorer areas.0 -
Just put your complaint in writing in a big envelope marked 'The Media, Newsland ' and post it in the big red post b....actually maybe you should send an email.
Seriously though OP - are you for real?
Sadly, this is symptomatic of modern Britain, where it's always someone else's fault for one's own decisions, and where shooting the messenger is a national sport (see the case of the poor nurse finally reinstated today after whistlblowing on the dreadful treatment of elderly patients).0 -

I agree - 'the area' was shorthand for the people in it, rather than the tarmac or conifers or something.....0 -
