Interesting conversation with recruitment agency just now. In with all the other stuff about 'impressive CV' etc. he mentioned my previous employer and asked how they had got on with the vacancy. It was my old job!
Now he has told me the old name of the agency, I know they are legit as I have in fact recruited people through them myself in the past and my ex boss got her current job through them.

Had to give DS a lift to work last night as he got to the station, albeit early and the trains had been switched to hourly service, (he had rung and checked before leaving home, but hey, everything changes). He got the train home this morning without any problems though. He's off now until weekend, and he gets paid tomorrow, so I have money again, good as wages will be rubbish this week due to weather.
Have done a stock take of spices cupboard and thrown loads away that I haven't used for ages. Only need to replace oregano. Will buy parsley and chives in pots at the weekend. Stuff should be arriving from approved foods soon, so will have plenty of cous cous type stuff, and cupasoups. So glad that thanks to this site, I have a decent stockpile of food.

Got to rant really, just mentioned to DS that there is nothing but rubbish on the telly and then had to listen to 'oh I suppose you want to cancel it then, that's fine for you, but I work nights and need it', when that wasn't what I meant at all. If I mention anything he starts of about how I get upset if money is mentioned.

Err yes, its because we haven't got any!

hi gill - yeah I have gone through the throwing food out thing too - I had stuff that was years and years out of date. Painful but necessary. Still haven't really learned my lesson when it comes to herbs and spices tho!

I've worked from home the last 2 days due to snow and DD was sent home from school yesterday and not in today. DS went to school tho but virtually every lesson was a supply teacher! I was impressed they went to that expense tho!

Have had to brave the shops today. Wouldn't have bothered except spoke to Mum last night and she's starting to run out of stuff and don't really want her to have to go out. She has a neighbour who can go to local shop and get bread milk etc. but its too expensive for a big shop.

So I went to Iceland and stocked up, and got her stuff, took it round and she moaned about the poor quality. ( She normally shops in M&S) Sorry Mum, but wasn't going to traipse to M&S. Having said that I got her meat and bacon, sausage eggs etc. from my local butcher, who has far better stuff than supermarkets and was able to get her small portions so she was better off there.

My part time wages this week were rubbish so have £40 for grocery shopping. Spent £16 in Iceland on own stuff, and then £3 in butchers, so should be OK.
May have interview for contracting job next week. Problem is its North Yorkshire so may be difficult to get to at the moment.

Going to be a bit minimal this weekend, but should have plenty of food in freezer etc. Have put some soup mix in water last night, so will decide what to do with that later.
Gas meter has £16 in it and normally this would be plenty for a week, but may top it up if it gets colder.
    Money in purse £60
Money in bank £148.99 - all DD's have gone out. Will try not to touch this now, because may need to pay a plumber to look at heating. Of all the things that need sorting in the house, at the moment this is the priority. We have 3 out of 7 radiators working, can get no water, hot or cold, out of the hot tap in the bath, and the shower, which is off the gas, not an electric one, has now decided that it will either be scalding hot, or lukewarm or cold, there is no 'just nice' so have to do a sort of hokey cokey type dance.
Money in 'spare' purse - pub tips etc. £32
Am normally an early riser anyway but was woken at 2am today by text from friend. There was a family party in club we work in last night and when I left at 8pm there were definite battle lines being drawn, old grievances being aired etc. Some of the people at the party live in my street so she texted me to tell me they were carrying on the party back at someone's house. They all piled back and there was the occasional skirmish but all good humoured.
Then at 5:45 the police and an ambulance were called! All fun here! So have been awake for ages and will probably fall asleep on couch later on.
