Old fashioned stripy flannellette sheets
Comments

I'm finding it difficult to find any proper flannelette sheets - you know, the thick, heavy type that our grandmas/mothers (depending on your age) used to use.
They all seem to be 'brushed cotton' now, which is not flannelette, although they are often described as flannelette!
I can't find any locally, and buying online could well mean expensive return postage costs if they are not what I want, so if anybody knows where I could buy real oldfashioned flannelette sheets they'd be making a very chilly body very happy!

Not much help! But all the rage over here in Oz! Never seen as much flannelette since my 1970's childhood! Plenty of flannel PJ's too! And now Spring is supposedly on it's way , lots are reduced in stores!0

Hmmm... my daughter lives in Oz - perhaps I'll get her to send me some as an early Christmas present.:)0 -
Aaaah that takes me back, I used to love the days my mum had changed my bed and it was all snug with my flannelette sheets all tightly tucked in with my blankets and Duvet.
I am 31 now and whenever my mum babysits she is always moaning that the kids pj's are not warm enough and that they don't have enough covers on their beds. I think she forgets that we had no heating back then so that's why we had loads of blankets and sheets!
Ps good luck in your search for sheets0 -
VERY sell the sheets & they're BOGOF & they have free returns - so you could always sned for some to see what they're like.

I've also seen them on QVC, but I can't imagine they're cheap.0

Sorry to sound a bit slow
but what's the difference between flannelette and brushed cotton? I have a friend who said a while back he got some flannelette sheets from QVC, and I think they sound lovely for Winter. I tried a quick google for you there and some results came up but they do say 'flannelette' but also mention brushed cotton. Like these at Dunelm Mills? Are they real flannelette or a cheap modern substitute pretending to be?

All those I've found are very thin and light compaired to what I know as flannelette. Flannelette was never referred to as brushed cotton, so yes, as far as I'm concerned brushed cotton is a lesser quality.0 -
I guess that if they say 'thermal cotton' is that more likely to be flannelette?0
