Most of them are from quite affluent families with professional parents (dr's, Surgeons, Dentists, teachers or own businesses) so pretty sure most of them have money. Like you say though there maybe a couple who are in the poo..

Just fed up with having no money, renting the smallest house in history. I know I should be grateful that I have a roof and we are clothed, have food and are warm but today I am envious. Know it will pass!

I feel exactly like that sometimes. some one was saying at work that I must be really loaded cos I have two jobs, they were all asking why I didn't go away for the summer (all three talking about their holidays) and I just thought why did I have to be such an idiot?

It 'll pass and I am sure all this debt repaying is character building. That conversation certainly had me being very inventive.

Sounds awful, does it cause him pain as well?

yeah, serious amounts of pain, bless him he's on 37 tablets a day (on a normal day - can take an extra 4 to get him through the night if need be). The nerve damage has got worse over the weekend though...he couldn't feel his little fingers or little toes since it happened.....his legs keep giving out today and when he makes a fist only 2 fingers move. Spoke to NHS direct last night and they said it's all part and parcel of his condition but not to go to A&E unless he has bladder issues as there's nothign they can do.

Beanie - yes found out about the Red Cross from a friend, can get there tomorrow to pick one up for the mean time. Will have to call Dr out tomorrow as there's no way he can walk the 1/4 of a mile to the surgery. And yes - DLA forms are here, hadn't got round to posting them so will tweak them as required.

One day soon when you have paid your debts off you will be saving and will be able to go on holiday...but you will probably resent paying good money on stupid holidays....:T

I know what you mean Buffy, we had one of those stupid 'team building' days at work a few weeks ago and as an ice breaker the guy running the day started off by asking us to say what our favourite ever holiday was and why.
I was near the end of the line and I was getting more and more depressed as I listened to tales of exotic locations, faraway places, luxury apartments, beach front balconies then it moved onto a lady who's husband that had some important job and they went to some country and got 5 star, red carpet treatment everywhere they went and she'd never forget it etc etc.

Then as this continued I started to feel really angry and p!ssed off as these amazing tales continued, getting more extravagant with each person, I wanted to walk out of the room and slam the door off it's hinges.

I was trying to decide between my best holidays. was it all the camping holidays where we were dragged off for long walks by my Dad, getting flooded out of the tent, our bargain basement honeymoon in Newquay, food poisoning in Jersey or Center Parcs? Ooh the agony of choice.

after yet another story of idyllic bliss in some far away blue skied, white sandy beached location it was my turn so I just said that I liked Center Parcs, quite defensively and that was it, I almost expected to hear laughing from the others. It put me in a really bad mood for the whole day then.

Linda, I have been to Bali, Florida mm all over the world basically.... I would give my right arm to have a week in a caravan in Cornwall, without some incident or disaster befalling me....every exotic location we have been on has been 'memorable' for some stupid event.

My favourite holidays where those as a child, caravan in morecambe with seagulls on the roof....and it never rained.....well I don't remember it raining.

I agree about the holidays, last year my dad and sister asked me to go to America with them. I didn't have £1500, and even if I did I wouldn't spend that much on a holiday! Especially since America doesn't appeal to me. I'm looking forward to a weekend city break somewhere when I've saved enough £2 coins (thanks for that idea Linda!), but I can't get through to people that I actually LIKE staying in hostels and doing it on the cheap.

Sister said last night that I should have the money she owes me by next summer, when I said great I want to go on my dream holiday (trans siberian express) when I'm 30 she said she wanted me to save it instead of wasting it. So it's ok for her to spend £1500+ on a holiday, but not for me to spend £800 on one?!

Linda, I bet most of them were lying. Or they're still paying the credit card off that they 'paid' for it with.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • It's Thanksgiving back home.

My family will be together eating turkey and pumpkin pies. I had a jacket potato for tea, but I guess I should be Thankful for that.

I want to go home :(
