Changed my own STO on line to 1st June, so with a bit of luck, £1000 will be in there giving the account an instant boost.

Yeah, mary. Nice to see a £1k balance after just a week isn't it?

Had that sat in an emergencies online saver at 4%ish and I won't need it, so I will have doubled the return on it!

I opened the monthly saver account by phone last Monday and arranged for the opening £500 to come from my current account, had to transfer money from my online saver to make sure I could cover it.

Logged on this afternoon, my monthly saver account has now been opened but they took the £500 from my online saver instead of the current account. Lucky there was enough money left to cover it. No sign yet of the standing order so don't know where thats going to be taken from!!

Same here. The money was taken from my online saver when I asked for it to be taken from my current account. Did you phone them? I am just in from work, so haven't had time yet.

I didn't bother phoning them. It seems like too much hard work speaking to the Indian call centre again. My Scottish accent is obviously tricky for them to understand :D

Pity I only just noticed this - am I definitely too late to open it this month?

Didn't one other poster say he'd been into a branch, opened the regular saver and paid in the first £250 all in cash and at the same time?

Couldn't I go in tomorrow and do the same? Then set up the first SO for as early as possible next month? Or does the money I pay in not actually go in that day and hence count as next months £250?

I'll wait till the end of next month if necesary (the offer will still be on then won't it? It does sound rather good), but if I can sort something out tomorrow that would be great!

And incidentally can I SO money in directly from a savings account? (A&L Online Saver Issue 2) Is that possible? Or does it need to come from a current account?

Having found out that the initial £500 had been taken from my online saver when I had requested it be taken from my current account I was annoyed but left it at that.

Phoned last night to ask why the SO hadn't been set up yet and was told it was obviously in the process. I queried whether that too had been set up from my Online Saver, and was clearly told it couldn't be as you can't set up SO's from the Online Saver only to it.

I phoned this morning again. Was told no SO had been set up on my current account. I asked them to check and guess what - the SO had been set up from my Online Saver ! So not only did they do something they told me couldn't be done I also pointed out the T&C's where it says money into the Monthly Saver cannot come from another Lloyds Savings Account. When I pointed out that they now put me in default of the T&C's the nice chap said he was sure they wouldn't penalise me as it wasn't my fault. I have cancelled that SO and tried to set my own up from my current account from today but unfortunately it will now have to wait until tomorrow.

If you have an Online Saver just check that nobody has set up an SO from it as it breaks the T&C's.

You are too late for this month. The opening £500 would be no problem but you need a few days to set up a standing order for £250 (maybe only one if you did it online yourself) so you could not get the maximum return by getting £750 in in May. This only makes about £20 difference to the return though I believe

I dont think A&L allow SO's from the Online Saver so you would need to move the money to a current account. However with instant transfers and the A&L CA paying 5% this shouldn't be a problem.

I have never opened an account by phone. For me, a correctly filled in online form (not availiable in this case) or a hand-filled form is far more reliable. Especially if you have to deal with non-native english speakers. I find it hard enough to get transferred to my branch.

My only gripe with lloyds is when you go into the branch to do a transfer (eg when I had problems with my ISP) and they tell you that you can phone or go-online: talk about talking yourself out of a job!

Out of curiosity, how many accounts do people run on average. I'll put my cards on the table:

    10 Regular Savers
    1 ISA
    3 Current accounts
6 Online savings (some of these have stayed dormant until Ing improved their rate out of the blue)
    3 websaver linked
    +
    6 Credit cards
    I have:

    4 regular savers
    2 current accounts
7 online savings accounts (Used a bit like piggy banks)

At the moment i only have one credit card but am thinking of applying for a second.

I have had others but i have always closed them when they came uncompetative.
