That is right. In order to get the Share Certificates from Halifax, you request 'Certificated withdrawal of stock' which cost £25 per investment.
I do agreed with sabretoothtigger. I do not think there is a point in buying shares just because of shareholders perks!0 -
the share holders discounts for disney will make the money back in my calculations, as i go annually (and hoping to go more) its 15% off in the disney paris resturants, 15% off in the shops there, 10% off the spa, buffalo bills etc which is all services i would use (and add up cost wise)
also you get 10% off hotel booking, park tickets, or disneyland paris packages, annual passports etc and 10% off in the uk disney stores also
and whilst on site you get access for salon mickey where between 9am and 12noon, you can access free hot drinks, bottles of water, snacks etc (which considering that hot choc each time is nearly 3 euros etc elsewhere in the park
if you hold between 5 and 19 shares, you have to pay for share holder membership at around 40 euros per 2 years, however if you hold 20 or more shares, you get the membership for free as long as you remain holding the shares.
there is a lot of the people on disboards who have got halifax online share dealing that have got the required confirmation for the forms to be completed by the shareholders club and have had to send in copy of the share contract with them and halifax and bank statement, and a copy of the online confirmation
i only intend to get the 20 shares which were trading last week between 4euro and 6 euros 30 cents, so maximum investment with the trading fee is around £150 but with the discounts will easily break even over the next couple years etc even if i dont make money with the shares, for instance we are considering buying the annual pass (the ones we would be buying are 189 euros, which seems a lot but a 3 day park ticket is £110 works out good if you go a few times a year etc) so would save 56 euros on 2 passes with the discount straighht awayMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
You don't need to hold the shares as certificates.
You only need to provide proof that you hold shares in the company. Which HSD will provide on request.

got through on live assistance this morning, apparently the restriction is because its a new account and should be lifted within 5 days, though he has given me a number (08457 22 55 25) where they have advised if i ring up after 1 working day of opening (so ie after 5pm today, as it was opened friday pm) then they may be able to look into lifting the restriction earlier.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

HSDL do not offer the service to withdraw foreign securities onto cerificate(even if it was possible on Euronext).
If Anna can get sufficient perks for just holding a few shares, it'd be worth it. I can't really see Disney going bust so there will always be something at the end of the day in that account...and the only way is up.0 -
Thanks all for the help. Managed to find the contract note online last night
i have faxed the forms off this morning to disneyland paris sharholders club on the work fax and seems to have gone through ok (fingers crossed) i have included a cover sheet and asked if they dont mind to email confirmation of receipt.
cant wait fingers crossed they sort out quick as my trip is in january and what with the postal strikes looming want it to be processed asap. ended up paying £135 for the 20 shares (including halifax's share dealing) i know its probably more than i would have paid earlier this year but oh well, with my trip in january looming couldnt wait too long for them to drop and also if the pound goes any weaker than the euro then it may not make a difference even if the shares do drop slightly.
Since signing onto the halifax share site, i have been reading more into the sharebuilder scheme where you buy monthly for a smaller fee, has any one got expericne of doing this?? is it easy to do, it sounds it but i am not sure if i fully grasp how it works (seems a bit too easy lol)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
does any one else use the sharebuilder part (where it takes out a set amount on a certain date of an account you nominate and then invest the money on a date a few days later)
is the money meant to come out of my current account and into the dealing account overnight?? as mine is meant to come out on 19th for this month and shares to be bought on 22nd however it has not been taken out of my current account (natwest) yet or showing as earmarked funds etc?? or is it done later in the day??
Edit: just checked again and its come out now (just after 8am)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
just wondering, can you change the card details online for money to be paid into the share builder as when i try to it tells me to phone (they are closed over the weekend) is this always the case or is it because the share dealing account is relativley new. just thought it is strange if you cant as set up the payment details online initiallyMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
