Halifax Share Dealing Service

hello

have opened a halifax share dealing account today, i am existing halifax customer (savings acc and credit card) and the account is showing up on there and i can go in and its active.

it appears that it will allow me to buy the shares (disneyland paris so i can do the disneyland paris share owners club) however the funds i opened with is not sufficient to buy the number of shares i want and cover the trading fee of £11.95. (and aparently if you want to trade in foreign stocks you also have to have an additional 10% above the estimated cost incase when the trade goes ahead there is a exchange fluctiation)

when i have gone to add more funds, it will not allow me and states its restricted, is this because its a new account and if so has any one had any experience on how long it will be before i can add into it?

as i want to be able to get the shares asap so i can get the share holders club application sorted before my trip to disney paris in january

EuroDisney is quoted on the Paris Stock Exchange so the above info about dealing in US shares is not relevant.

How did you fund it originally?
How are you trying to fund it now by debit card or transfer from a Halifax Account?
It may be as you say because you have only just set it up.
I have a Halifax Share Dealing account but it was opened many years ago but I seem to remember that I had to give them written details of the debit card I was going to use.

i am trying to fund it from my debit card, when i opened up they asked for the debit card number details and the account number (natwest) they took the £100 and i have checked the account details are also listed on there still for future funding, just doesnt let me select the box. it doesnt give option of funding from a halifax account either (i have savings acc with them)

I do have the option to fund from a Halifax account but it is probably because I have a current account with them looks like you can't fund it from a savings account.
It probably is because the account is new.
You won't be able to buy the shares until Monday anyway so not really any extra delay if you have to wait till then to call them.
  • WIth these accounts you have to prove your identity but if you already have a bank account that should be enough. You can send them an email as well about your questions

EDL showed up when I checked
Company Name : EURO DISNEY SCA EUR1
    Company Code : EDL
Latest Price : Last closing price 6.3 (EUR)
    Listed on Market: PAR

    Available to Invest :
in EUR 0.00 (EUR)* at 19:37:00
    Buy FX Rate: 1.0715

    * For international orders the available to invest is 90% of your sterling amount to protect you from potential price and foreign exchange movements.
The 10% excess can be returned to your bank account immediately and it'll clear 3 days later. Its just to cover the 10 seconds between you clicking buy and the actual order being carried out, the fx rate might change but why it has to be 10% I dont know

  • Whats the actual deal for these shares then because usually its not worth buying the shares just for a discount.

Also do they need you to hold the certificates because in theory with a nominee account its held under a company name on your behalf, thats a problem I think sometimes. HSDS is nominee unless you pay more for a cert

These shares rose 50% since start of sept btw
