BAB UK: Are they genuine?!

Sorry for not getting back.
MOJ rang to say they had received many complaints about BABUK taking money after having their License Suspended.
They advised I print out my bank statements showing the payments/withdrawals and go to the police... That's were I'm off to now.
(MOJ did get back to me the day after I left the request from their website - I have been procrastinating on this due to other commitments)0 -

Did they really?
How did you get on?
What did plod say about you going to them over this, especially 4 months after you first knew about it? Did you get a crime number?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi, I am trying to help a friend who got conned by BABUK Ltd. She paid the £49.99 in March 2010, but after submitting her paperwork she heard nothing and could not get hold of them. I have just done some research and found that they surrendered their MoJ authorisation in May 2010 (as discussed elsewhere here) and a Companies House check reveals that the company was dissolved in November 2010.
Is there any way of getting her money back?
Thanks

OK, thanks for the reply. As it's only the cost of a stamp, we've written a letter to Lloyds asking for the £49.99 back as it was taken by debit card and services weren't supplied. We won't hold our breath though!0

I'm sure this company once contacted me, wanted to charge I think £49.99 to send me out some paperwork and then were going to charge about 30% in fees for any monies won in a claim.
I don't think these companies are worth it, easier to do it with the FO or using the guides on this website. This post was brought to you from the vortex of a human psyche, it was approved by my poor judgement. :T0 -

I'm afraid that you do not get any protection on a payment of that size. It has to be over £100.I don't think these companies are worth it, easier to do it with the FO or using the guides on this website.
We get shown a sample of the sorts of complaints the the claims companies send in and they would make you laugh if it wasnt for the fact that some poor souls have paid money up front for them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). bit of a late update, Lloyds did refund the money as an act of goodwill (it was beyond the time limit).0
