Van removed illegally from MY private space

Report it to the police. If your mate needs to make an insurance claim, he's going to need a crime number or they won't pay out. They he can worry about chasing it through the courts, or the insurance can.0

Maybe lives with sister or thought it easier to phrase as if it was his.stationaryace wrote: »hmmm, does this smell fishy to anyone else?
Another forum to ask at is https://www.pepipoo.com0 -
So the OP is an ex-vehicle owner of his friends vehicle that had all the OP's belongings in it whilst sitting outside the OP's flat which now belongs to his sister.

First thing I would have done was to phone the police and report it stolen.0

What a cynical lot you all are!
To me - it would seem that the other maintenance company are at fault, it was not on their property that the vehicle was parked, and as they are responsible for having it removed, they should be charged with theft amongst other things. I think the OP should speak to the police, this was on private property and the vehicle was not illegal as it had road tax and MOT.
I'm looking forward to reading the latest instalment!Genie

I read it as:
OP rents a flat privately
His sister owns the flat he rents, so she's his landlord
Friend owns a van and has gone to India so parks it in the private space while on his trip
Letter sent to van's owner at home, but he's not at home, he's in India on a long holiday
Van removed, crushed
The confusing bit is why the OP would have belongings in the van.0 -
I don't think its been scrapped at all. To be taken and scrapped straight away is a bit iffy. What type of camper was/is it.0

Only reasons I can think of...
Was living in the camper (in which case good job he wasn't in it when it was towed).
Used the camper as some form of shop/business.
Bit of a hoarder who needed storage space.0 -
I wonder how much it weighed. The definition van can be used loosely, from a nice VW camper van through to one of these: http://www.hobotraveler.com/uploaded_images/207-200-africa-overland-motorhome-782436.jpg
It might have counted as a commercial vehicle and there might be some small print about not parking commercial vehicles in the car park.0
