Two week old phone faulty and out of warranty

I wonder if anyone on here can help?
Recently (less than 2 weeks ago) I replaced my faulty iPhone (everything worked fine apart from the GPS), the replacement phone has now died! And O2 are telling me that the warranty has now expired and they won't give me another replacement.
What can I do about it? Surely there is some law about it being fit for purpose, or faulty or something.
It seems crazy that I have replaced a 90% working phone with one that doesn't work at all!

Your new replacement must have a 3month warranty on it regardless of when your contract ended. It's the law!!

Just where did you obtain the 2nd phone? O2 , Ebay, 3rd party? And was it new? Please expand with sufficient information and your advice will be better targetted.0 -

If you have the paper work from O2 with the dates on go to an apple store. (book an appointment with the genius bar) and they should swap it for another one.
As i am on my 3rd iPhone 3GS. 1st one was sawpped inside the 28 day period so got a brand new boxed one from O2 shop where purchased. But there was a problem with the wifi on it so went to Apple store and they swapped it for a brown box one. (Refurbished/New one)
I found Apple a lot easier to deal with. O2 shop tried to say they had to send it way to be repaited but i was having none of it.
As i knew they had stock in, so i said ok then i would just return it for my money back and then buy a new one straight after. And then all of a sudden they would swap it for me.0 -

Sorry, I didn't explain clearly.
The original phone was replaced by O2 under warranty less than 2 weeks ago, the phone they sent as a replacement has stopped working and in those 2 weeks the years warranty on the original phone has run out.
The thing is, they've replaced a phone that was 90% working with one that after a week is 0% working!0 -
I had my N95-8GB go faulty 13 months into my contract and they repaired it. It went faulty twice after the last being in July when I had two weeks to go on my contract they replaced it with a N96 (refurb). I went on a sim only deal and the N96 went faulty last week I took it to the O2 shop and asked if it was covered under warranty and was told it had a one year warranty.0

Nokia phones have a 2yr manufacturers warranty as do many of the manufacturers that O2 stock, please ask the O2 staff member to send the handset away with a proof of purchase and it should be fixed.0 -

That could be the way forward... But how do I book an appointment with the genius bar? Am i being dumb????
EDIT - Have since worked it out!!! Booked in for sunday. Will see what they say, many thanks.0 -
Yeah just goto a apple shop they are friendlier.
With regards to your warranty, you should have 12 months if not 24. From the date you received the first phone, in addition any replacement phones received may have a 3 month warranty as well, which is only really needed if you have gone outside the 24 months from your initial purchase.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
I would quote that it not fit for the purpose for which it is intended. It is an expensive phone, so you would expect it to last for a "reasonable" amount of time - 2 weeks is not reasonable and IMOO neither is a year (unless you do something daft with it)0
