Hi all, have a really tight week money wise this week so really need to stick to plan - last weeks went well again - stuck to menu plans - seems to struggle with desserts though - never seem to stick to what should be planned so going to miss them off as will decide on the night what to have - but so far so good!
    Next weeks meals are:
Monday - Ham joint, salad & new pots.
Tuesday - Fish pie & veg.
Wednesday - Sausage, mash & beans.
    Thursday - Mince & dumplings & veg.
Friday - Hunters chicken, potato wedges (thanks to helyg for recipe;))
Saturday - Soup & sandwich (as home alone)
Sunday - Roast dinner at luch time and then pancakes at tea time.

Good luck to everyone sticking to your plans!

It's a good job we don't do these retrospectively....

I'd have to report eating cottage pie three evenings running

(It was HM, and absolutely delicious, but even so.....!)

OK last week didnt go too badly apart from salmon from freezer being off (didnt smell bad when made it as was smoked, but tasted dreadful)so brocolli and sweetcorn bake got replaced by takeaway! and had dreadful cold and felt rubbish so thursday pak choi noodle soup got bumped to friday to make room for spicy red curry on thursday to try and open nasal passages!

Fr-either out for nice meal or steak, pots and veg
Sa-lamb shanks, squash, sweet pots stewey taginey type thingy
Su-hmm havent planned that far-reckon roast, hopefully pork belly or shoulder
Mo-Leftovers in chinese broth with pak choi (mm pork crackling soup noodlesmmmm )
Tu-sausages with cauli, brocolli and leek cheesy bake

BTW if anyone has a good recipe for a clear celery soup would be greatly appreciated-I have a lovely bit I got in veg box, complete with leaves, and OH cannot stand the stuff so am thinking of a nice healthy soup I could freeze for my celery fix....

I stick pretty rigidly to my main course plans, but don't necessarily stick to puddings. I just make sure I have ingredients for 3 different puds (this week steamed sponge, rice pudding and apple crumble) and I make whichever I feel like or have time to make! I always make enough for 2 nights, so only have to make a pud every other night.

    * the type of sausage this is made with isn't usually sold in the UK, so I modify my own by taking plain sausagemeat and adding loads of herbs & spices to it. Using plain sausagemeat will make this soup very bland so I find this step crucial. Just chuck in things like thyme, sage, chili flakes, paprika, black pepper to create a spicy sausage. If you've got kids, just focus more on the herbs than the spices and it's still yummy :).

Thanks so much Aless, it looks/sounds (? :rotfl:) yummy! Do you roll the sausagemeat into little balls, and do you think I could use minced pork mushed up with lots of spices/herbs instead?

Champys, I am really looking forward to your sauerkraut soup tomorrow ;):D

Not been on for a couple of weeks as had a baby and been eating prepared meals from the freezer as and when we have time!

Congratulations! Don't be hard on yourself if you send OH out for pizza or do find yourself/OH doing you both some beans on toast instead of a planned meal ;) There were a few evenings we just had a big plate of toast, never mind the beans!

  • Hi All

A bit late posting this week. Only one glitch last week which resulted in Takeaway Fish & Chips which OH bought!

    This weeks is:

Thurs: HM Spag Bol from Freezer
Fri: White Fish with creamy pesto & cherry tomato sauce
Sat: Turkey meatballs, mash & onion gravy
    Sun: Eat at OH's parents
Mon: Salmon with dill & cream sauce, broccoli & pasta
Tues: Economy Gastronomy mac & cheese
Wed: Economy Gastronomy Twice Stuffed Chicken

Hopefully no temptations to get in the way this week.

    Take care all.

My first meal plan post! Determined to stick to it. It's my OH's Birthday this week, so out twice, which should make it easier for sticking to this hopefully!

    Here we go:

Monday: Roast veg and chicken risotto (made with Sunday’s Roast leftovers)
Tuesday: Stuffed pepper (made with leftover risotto bar the chicken)
Wednesday: Cheese and tomato on toast
    Thursday: Out
Friday: Griddled lamb steak with chickpea and aubergine salad
    Saturday: Out
    Sunday: Shredded duck Chinese pancakes
  • Sorry mine are a little late this week

    Friday: Cheese on toast
Saturday : Takeaway for my birthday :)
    Sunday: Roast Chicken dinner
Monday: Chicken pie made from leftovers
Tuesday: Salmon and new spuds and veg
    Wednesday: Egg on toast
Thursday: Sandwiches for me as I am at work til midnight and sausage baguettes for my OH

Bit basic this week but I have been pushed for money.......damn student loan doesn't stretch far enough. I did make a lovely cauliflour cheese the other day though :D
