CSA and confirmation from a manager

After being on this site reading for ages and never actually posting, I thought I would reply with what I have been told from a senior member of CSA

Alot of ppl are disputing about CTC which I totally agree however, if you do not give your partners details which by law you do not have to as you are the NRP not your partner, they cannot access any information on your partner as they do not have the permission to do so

That is why the CSA ALWAYS ask the NRP if they are receiving TC because they cannot find out themselves if you have a joint claim as it is against the law for them to do so, and that is the only way that they can find out

I do not agree that it should be included as if you have 4 children living with you at your new home and you only have to pay CSA for 2, then ALL of your CTC is taken into account and not what you would get for 2, therefore it is totally absurd and disgusting, families are being penalised for having more step children and that is shocking

I know that some of the CSA people will come on here and say they do have access etc etc but they will say that because they wont want NRP to know, however it is a VERY vindictive and UNFAIR way of doing it

I see so many on this forum struggle with having to pay out so much money because of the CTC, and CSA need to have no information on your partner whatsoever, so there is no need to tell them, they have no rights to know nor do they need to know, they only need your details, you can refuse to give them any information regarding your partner and they cannot do a thing about it

If the CTC was fair then CSA should only take the amount they are awarded for 2 children not the whole amount given if there are more, I can see why so many parents struggle with this

I hate the new system I hate all of it and I am so glad that I am out of it now, but I will tell you what I know for definite and I wont explain how I know I just do

All CSA workers will tell you they will find out but not if they dont have your partners details and they can only get all of that from yourself

Wait for the rant to start am sure it will from the CSA ppl that give there so called advice on here!! Been there done that had enough of doing it, its not fair!

They have access to you only, hence why they are able to go the DEO because they know what you are earning etc, otehr than that nothing at all, they think they are pwoerful they are not infact it is a useless shocking system that will never ever work

  • I always wondered this, I know they would break the law if they accessed someones details without having it, so good to know

Do you know why my own CSA case would have been passed to a manager? A Caseworker rang me, I gave details and they have tld me it has gone to the management team, so wondering why, I know my ex has been disputing loads

    Thanks
    I love a Bargain
  • Managers always assess the amounts, that is why it has gone there

Caseworkers get all the information, do all the ringing around, Managers are the ones that do the assessing, calculate how much you will get each week/month

    Hope this helps
  • I think that it is fair and just to be able to access certain details on the nrp so that the CSA can verify what they are saying re benefits etc but I wholeheartedly agree that the nrpp's and the pwcp's details should be 100% kept out of the case after all they are both 3rd parties and have "responsibility" financially to the nrp's and pwc's children. I was one that refused any details because it has got nothing to do with me. My money is mine and my childrens money and will not benefit anyone else i'm afraid. We too were told of certain mis-truths by members of the CSA when trying to get information:rolleyes:
I think that this works both ways though and pwc's seem to suffer the same problems:(

Well blow me down with a feather!!! There are some csa employees who do believe the system is unfair!! :T.

well there has been a few of us on here that also believe that it is vindictive and unfair how the csa goes about its buisness.

I know it will never work and one day it will come to light that this government has gone about it in the wrong way,

I would like to make my point that I believe that nrp should pay child support, but its the way the csa and government go about it

A serious problem for the government is how to get demotivated men to pay for children they have been excluded from, and often are never allowed to see. It is reported that 50% of fathers involved with divorce lose all contact with their children after three years. The Child Support Agency was setup to obtain money from excluded and absent fathers. Fathers report that CSA pressure comes just at a time when they are getting over the loss of a wife and coming to terms with their situation of spending a lifetime in slavery without their children. For many this is too much to bear. Since the agencies start in 1991 there have been 45 suicides of fathers and children directly attributed to the CSA pressure.

What a refreshing post. Just to add they asked for my partners details and I would never give them. They use all the jargon in the world and terms to muddle you, but stand firm. I'm guessing many NRP's have given them without knowing the truth. Bit like you have "14 days to pay x amount or you could face a prison sentence" routine

    Many thanks.

I just hope this thread does not get locked:rotfl:
  • This is also my first post so soory for any mistakes, I have found loads of helpful advice on here with regard to the CSA
I am a NRPP and my concern at the moment is that the CSA rang our house last night, we are ex directory and only a few people have the number, so I am worried how they have obtained it. We certainly have not given it to them

The CSA can find out how much CTC and TC you get if the NRP is self employed though. My Husband ( NRP) received a phone call a few weeks ago from the CSA who told him to the penny how much ctc we get per month, and that they are backdating it for 18 months ( nearly 4 grand of arrears added ) and that weekly payments have doubled. They found out from the Inland revenue.

I don't object to them using the NRP WT tax credits, but to use the CTC should be stopped. We also get the disability element of CTC as our 2 children are disabled and they even use that. I don't see why they should benefit from my childrens disabilities.

But CTC is a joint claim so you do need to tell them about it. If you don't you are breaking the law !

You need to find this out as someone somewhere has breached data protection and needs to lose their job!

    How can they backdate it?
Have you spoken to the pwc to explain that she will be getting credit for your children's disabiliies? Surely any "decent" human being would then accept an amount minus this figure?
