Paparika she sounds awful she sounds very similar to a bint who used to live 3 doors up from me, who had the ugliest (naughtiest) kids ever, they terrorised me for months and although i ignored it as much as possible, they used to tell their mother i'd said stuff to them  which resulted in her coming to mouth off at me.
I had to get my mother to come one day, cos i felt so intimidated, but she ended up shouting in her face (lol) which curbed it for a bit.
Then she got worse and tried to set fire to my house through the letterbox. I had a net curtain on the door and window, which had some coating on it which meant it just melted luckily, the doormat was melted and luckily nothing else caught fire. But i was in bed with my DS and didn't notice til i got up for work in the morning. That was an awful shock.

She used to do stuff like throw old mattresses into my garden aswell, or rubbish.

Police wouldn't do anything as they said their involvement would make me more at risk (!!!!!!) unless they could definitely prove something and get them a guaranteed conviction.

So after all that, my new neighbours are angels  lol, just wish they'd !!!!!!

Put the pencil down, & go round when there is no noise with a small housewarming gift for them. Introduce yourself & your DS, & try to drop into conversation how early you all go to bed.

If you are pregnant - then this could be it.

During all my pregnancies, I became really sensitive to noise. I used to snap at my kids for being loud and people would tell me that they weren't that bad (which has NEVER happened outside pregnancy) and I used to get really frustrated with the noise of the tv etc.

I think the best resolution to neighbour noise is to create some yourself to block it out. If they are playing music, then play some yourself It doesn't have to be loud, just loud enough so you're not bothered by it.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

Wow, you really have had bad neighbours, i see what you mean by the new neighbours must seem like angels, but cosntant noise really does start to grate after a while so i do feel for you.
My mum was always falling out with the girl upstairs over noise and eventually she got moved, (the girl upstairs, not my mum) but a couple of days later my mums car was set on fire it was so upsetting, i told my mum to just keep herself to herself from now on, not fair that you cant even have a word with people anymore without some comeback.
I had a falling out with the bloke across the road once and he scratched hell out of my car, just shows how low some people actually are.
I hope your neighbours are alot more decent than that though and will respect you, i know i would be mortified if my neighbour complained to me about noise.

    Good Luck

You're in quite a difficult position. Sounds like it's possible hormones, and I know how annoying the noise must be for you, especially when you need your rest just now. Just be careful about confronting them because in a few months they might come complain to you about a crying baby. I know that's not preventable like having a late-night party or doing some DIY in the evenings, but they might not see it quite like that.

Btw, many years ago I got a knock on the door from 2 policemen at 11pm. They'd had a complaint about noise coming from my house. I asked them 'what noise?' We were just back from holiday, my baby son was asleep in the livingroom and my 2 other children were asleep upstairs. I was in my dressing gown so not exactly partying. It turned out the complaint came from my new neighbours and my washing machine was on. I was only doing my holiday washing. We lived in a terraced house and all my children were sound asleep so we obviously weren't making that much noise.

have you got a phone that would pick up the noise? try to record it.
could you ring citizens advice? see what they advise, they might suggest talking to the neighbours, but explain your concerns, and see what they say.

Pregnancy hormones are a bi**h, i was a complete nightmare when preggers with ds. But this sounds like its more than that.

if i was you just go to the council let them know then there will be a record of it if anything happens later on then keep a diary of the noise dates/times and length of time it went on.if it continues the council can use this as evidence,my sister has been asked to keep this noise diary in the past because of her neighbours also

From the young couple, it's loud enough to sing along to, but that's mainly late afternoon so obviously not as bad. Just [STRIKE]suicide invoking[/STRIKE] a pain when we're settling for dinner and reading books.

The DIY from young couple has gone on til 9pm before, but i will admit it's not all the time.

From the older couple, early days yet as they've only just starting sleeping there after getting it liveable, but i could hear TV or something late last night, music not so late.

It's so hard, cos i know it could be soooo much worse but it's still driving me potty, that's why i don't know if i'm just overreacting/being over-emotional. All i can hear right now is duff duff duff and i'm sat here in tears! Grr pathetic :o

To be honest young couple if working and trying to get new house sorted - get home from work at say 6pm, grab some supper, start doing a few bits to sort house - only do a couple of hours until 9pm as not to disturb the neighbours - our first few months it was more like 10 or 11pm.... not everyone can do stuff during the day if they are at work and 9pm isn't ridiculous....

They don't work  I know this cos of the music that they play all day long.

I have spoken to the older couple, when one of them walked into my house by accident and they came to apologise, i mentioned the music from young couple before i knew they were related. They said something like "oh we only really listen to music if we're tidying up and never loudly":rolleyes: LIES!! lol
