When are you most likely to impulse buy?

Just wondered if everyone had certain times or places when the impulse buy urge most hits them? For me, it always seems to be when I'm tired, I seem to be less in control of fighting the urge to spend money. I generally stay clear of record shops these days I can quite happily spend a whole day in them rooting through all the CDs. Supermarkets are another, but I'm tackling that one by menu planning and being disciplined!

Anyone else?

The absolute worst culprit for me, is food.

It takes nothing but sheer determination to stop buying it when its not needed. Even spending 100 a month between 2, and not binning anything unused now, we have a cupbaord full of stuff still. Store cupboard challenge calling I feel
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Tesco for me, I always spot something and think, mmmm, I do need that - and then buy it! Case in point, a scart splitter, in tesco at 7.99, I put it in my trolley and walked around with it until I came to my senses. I bought one on ebay for £3 as soon as I got home.

Sometimes I just cant help myself! I am getting much better though...

I tend to buy comfort foods, crisps, sweets etc! Eat them, then feel terrible. I also have itunes, which is fatal for buying music!
To help me combat my impulsions I have post it notes of current debt balances stuck on my computer monitor so if I feel the urge to visit a website I shouldn't I just look at the balances!
    October make £10/day currently £11.02

My problem is buying anything over the internet but especially gig ticktets.

My Job can be very quiet at times and I'm allowed to just sit and surf all afternoon if I want to pass time. So I think I shop because I'm borded.

I'm trying to be good though and if I have already seen the band then I don't get the tickets and now concentrate on new bands playing small venues because those are the cheap tickets!

Better still if I'm being very good I tell myself NO and come on here instead! It is actually working!;)

Oh yes, I went mad when I first got it, now I just don't go there.

Same as, I once totted up that I'd spent £800 on gig tickets in four months and the boyfriend spent £500 in the same time. Thankfully though I seem to have cured myself of that one mainly because I've been to so many gigs now that it takes to much to impress me these days, so I just don't bother anymore!

  • Usually when I'm feeling fed up or bored. I tent to then go for some clothes or accesories to cheer myself up. Also when my OH wants to buy something I'm not so sure about, eventually his excitement/enthusiam rubs off on me.

Contrary to many people, I find that I impulse buy when I'm at the shops (mainly clothes & accessories) and in a very good mood.

When I'm feeling really good then it doesnt seem to matter how much debt I've got because that new top/bag etc is lovely and all the debt will be gone eventually. (yeah, right)

Luckily the guilt comes the next day or so and then I take things back.
  • Any time at all!!!

My thing is food, snacky things mostly. And I'm awful when I go food shopping, now am armed with my list and a £20 note, soon stops trying to put more things in the trolley!!

Agree with the music thing too, loooooove gigs and music! I've stopped buying on iTunes, used to spend a fortune! And cut the gigs down too, although am at a festy thingy tonight, tomorrow and Saturday night- BUT tickets were meant to be £35 each and boyf won £50 on the lottery so tickets only cost us £10 each!! Get in!!!

And got a gig on Monday night, but boyf has said that it's his treat as I've been so good with my money! Bless!!! Only a tenner again too!
