    Hi dunstonh,

Thanks for your advice, how would I go about beginning the complaint process?
    Thanks a lot

The FSA dont review consumer complaints. So you can't use them for that. However, you can make them aware of what you feel is a rule breach and ask them to investigate. In these cases, they may just send your comments on to the company and let them deal with it but if they get enough people making them aware of this then they may investigate.

The only option to appeal their response to your complaint is to go to the FOS.

    I'm confused.

I wrote to Adminicle Ltd as they were underwriting my policy last year - my DD was in heir name. All letters as Assurant Solutions. June 2009 that stayed the same but the premium went up.
I got a reply, not from Adminicle but from some company called Advent Solutions Management Ltd.
Further to your letter dated 22nd April 2010, addressed to Adminicle Ltd.
This letter has been forwarded to ourselves, as we have taken over some of the claim administration contracts previously handled by Adminicle.
We are not your policy underwriters, and your request must be addressed to them directly.
Regrettably, I am unable to confirm who the underwriter is as we do not recognise your policy number and suspect that your scheme is being managed by another third party administrator.
We are sorry we have been able to assist you with this matter
Nice typo on the last line :)

So do I write to my newly assigned administrator, as of a month ago, Trent Services. Or do I try Assurant Solutions? My price hike from June09 to and including Feb10 (Trent took over for March) was £275.04

Why is there nothing on the web about this FSA ruling or what to do apart from this thread and the page on MSE?

Also anyone else been told by Trent that their policy effective date is 1st March 2010, with premiums to be reviewed 1st June 2011. With a policy review date defined as "means the date 12 months after the start date and anually thereafter"...
  • Hi has anyone had any further response from this compnay other than a refusal to pay out due to changing company. I think this company are a joke. how can they say we changed company when they didnt send any new documentation / terms and conditions / direct debit mandate or any other reference to the new company... soooo fly.

Hi, I couldnt be bothered to argue with Trent/Assurant/Alpha any more. I've filled in the FOS forms and will see what happens.

In my eyes this is a clear breach of TCF, the letters sent out in 09 clearly state that this is a continuation of cover with no changes to the T&C's, yet their response now states that it was a new policy and I had an opportunity to change my mind. Does anyone think that its worth going to the FSA as well

Hi- have been watching this thread for a few months now. Have just sent a letter to Trent stating that it was a continuation of contract with no changes to existing terms and conditions, a breach of the spirit of the FSA ruling and of TCF. Also suggested that as refunds were supposed to happen pro-actively that putting off a letter til the end of April has been a delaying tactic - they've still been taking the higher monthly premium all this time. I copied this letter in to FSA with a note asking them to investigate, so we'll see what happens.

    Next step FOS.
  • Will be interesting to see what the FSA say. I'll sit and wait for the FOS, probably take around 12m

    Hi,

I have a policy with these crooks...for nearly three years now...last year my premiums doubled from around £20 to about £42 and same name changes etc as described in this thread.

I rang BH?? Shelter and asked if I was eligible to a refund and was told no...I'm not quite sure of what the score is and if I am eligible for a refund of some kind.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks, Ash

Nothing on this yet either for me.

As i understand it, until they've passed the deadline in the FSA ruling the FOS will not look at it anyway. Once this has passed I'll be complaining straight to the FOS.

I'm not holding out a lot of hope.. but that wont stop me pursuing it.
