    Oh I give up..........

I've worked my socks off all week, we all have - and you lot seem to think that we are all loaded and are over charging and ripping you off - well fine, you can think that way if you want to, be it wrong. Any other service doesn't seem to get the same abuse. People want their cars fixed for nothing, as if it is a right that they are entitled to...

If we price a job it is wrong.... but you accept the 'set' service fees from the main dealers, whereas we independents only do what needs to be done which is a blinding deal for those who do little mileage! And our hourly rate is alot cheaper. But it still isn't good enough is it? You want bl**dy BOGOF now when we change shock absorbers!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You see these same bloated people with their overloaded shopping trolleys each week, not complaining about their supermarket bills, where the service is zero as you do it all yourselves....... and they expect us to keep their cars on the road for an annual service that is a quarter of their weekly shopping bill. Guess that sums it up pretty tidily :D.

I had a look today at my camper in the drive which I parked there in September to do the brakes  the wheels are off already as the DVLA said they were going to clamp it:rotfl:

But it started to rain and that was the end of it  can't really see nothing being done now till the new year.:D

Sorry to hijack this thread, but my MOT is due in 4 weeks and it's my first time putting a car in for one  Am bricking it aswell, winter is here and baby coming soon so i need it to pass lol!! It's a 96 Saxo btw.

Anyway my question - what do i need to take with me? Last years MOT docs? log book?

Also, MOT expires on 6th Nov, and ax expires 31st October. So should i just tax as usual and should i get the MOT done a week early so i have time to get any work done?
I need the car for DS school cos it's a bit far away so don't really wanna be reaquainted with the local bus services

Yeah, I shied off from saying you are a liar and a drama queen, happy now. No one said all garages rip people off.
But the entire operation is costed in not just the mechanics hourly rate, he's not doing homers. you seem to have trouble understanding that.

BTW time served panel beater now employed in tenders costings and contracts also worked in LAD supplies in the Army. I think I know how it works.

You can get it tested anytime so soon would be a good idea so you can get any required works done whilst the old MOT is still valid. You can tax it as long as you have a valid MOT on the day the tax starts.

Ooh thanks, how soon? You mean like now-ish? I want to be MSE and not lose too much of the year :p I bought the car the day it came out of it's MOT last year! They told me it passed first time but i looked it up on tinterweb and it failed on emissions and handbrake the first time! Tsk!

I have a slight bulge in my tyre so i will get a new one before i put it in. Also need a spare, which i deffo will get anyway - BUT does it need a spare to pass?

In that case, we bow to your knowledge and experience.

I'll go back to my lessons on how to become a better drama queen and a liar. Thank you so much for your valued comments.

MOT anytime from the 7th of Oct - so yes, now onwards is fine and it will automatically be dated on. No, it doesn't need the spare to be legal to pass. We often put the spare on to make a vehicle legal to pass, if that helps!
