Would anyone recommend this Acer for £348.99 from Comet: http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/572_336483.html

The equivalent offer at Dell has a smaller screen meaning i'd be saving £36.25 going with the Acer. Other than that I think all vital statistics are the same.

    Thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

    I wouldnt reccomend anything Acer.

I've held that very model in a Comet store and I just felt like I'd break it within months (and I look after my posessions with great care).

Go for Dell's cheapest offering, I have one and its fantastic, feels far more solid than the Acers do.

I am not suitably qualified to comment on the laptop but the retailer...........

Not sure what the problem with Comet would be, I bought a laptop from them last year and had no issues whatsoever.

With regards the build quality, I read up on PcPro and saw this earlier model :http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/78822/acer-travelmate-2403wxci.html and they reckon it's solid?

Getting paid to write a review is one thing.

Standing in Comet with laptop in one hand and £400 in the other is a different matter altogether, and I, based upon the impression it made, say to avoid.

    Your money, your choice.

Same one available from some Tesco's for £299 but they are going FAST.

I've got one and 1st impressions are good. Obviously the build quality is not up to IBM standards, but then neither is the price. Treat it well and it'll be fine.
