  • Toys r Us are offering an Intel Celeron M 1.4Ghz, with 512MB DDR ram and 80GB hard drive for £449.oo to include a Lexmark printer (which I don't want).

I thought it seemed quite good as it seemed to be double the Ram and Hard drive of other I looked at but I'm not sure what I need and from what some of you have been saying I probably don't need as much as that as it would only get light use and internet.

I'm finding it hard to see why the price goes up to £759 when you go to checkout.

I've just tried to find it also....there are some voucher codes, but none come down to that price - I've also clicked on the 1200, and when you go to checkout, it adds delivery, so I'm going to wait :-(

The £449 one is out of stock at mo so you cannot select it. The picture and "add to to basket" link next to it is of the next model up (1.6 Ghz model) which is £749.00, a different model

£420 inc VAT (delivery costs depending on where you live)

    2)
    Dell Inspiron 1200

    3)

    ..so things are quiet..
.. who's going to break ranks & cut prices to get the initial Christmas rush..
  • Don't know if these guys have been quoted yet, but do have a look at http://www.buyit247.net and click on the "Grade 2 computers" link at the bottom of the page - they usually have some good headline deals.

Best deals if you've got a bit of time and are happy researching models and specs is to get their spreadsheet of available models:
    http://www.pc-interworks.co.uk/stock_list.csv

and have a very careful look through it - they have deals which are not listed on the main pages and (even better) can make mistakes when listing models which you can spot and get underpriced machines.

The almost, but not quite lowest-spec "IBM" Thinkpad R50e was advertised at the weekend by Staples for £399 (inc VAT), apparently about £50 less than anywhere else. If you are happy with the spec "it seems a good buy" (says the impecunious friend of mine who bought one!). Couldn't find it on the website, though, only in store...
