Of course, everyone has a different opinion. My opinion is that Sony have a very good reputation (I don't own one but want one). I'd say Acer and Dell have the worst reputation when it comes to laptops.0 -

Personally I've had no problem with Dell at all but everyones experience is different. For example Toshiba are second in the poll at the top of the page but my last laptop was a Tosh (and not a cheap one) and it was terrible - numerous hardware and build quality issues.0 -

The assistant, who seemed quite clued up, said that these days Acers were good, JL wouldn't sell them otherwise?
So does that mean new spec Acer's are in fact OK?:o0 -

I've never had a problem with Acer and always found them to be a reliable and cheap make. The desktops are usually a good buy too. My mums had an Acer digital camera for years and never had a problem!0 -

*Edit* Found it a lot cheaper from here: http://www.wholeinstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=415 never delt with them though0 -

i did look at that first one, think i was put off because it was a refurb - but suppose it doesn't matter!

But you end up spending £480 for the "free" laptop that sells for under £300? Its not even a laptop its a netbook, and not a very good one either! You can buy a more powerful acer aspire one for £150 from ebuyer.0
