You can forget about p4 then , and any decent gaming watching dvds.What you need is centrino 1.5 12 inch tft 512mb , second battery , onboard graphics , that would garuntee you 2 hrs.

check out dell , evesham or rockdirect , look for those with a 3yr waranty as standard that covers accidental and screen (not just labour fro the screen , sneaky)and the ability to add a 2nd battery or upgrade the original one to 12cell.

Just a word of warning Lofty, if you take your laptop to lectures you will look very out of place. after nearly 4 years at Uni only once have I seen a laptop in a lecture. Everyone was asking each other why they needed it there! Just some advice..........

But very good for group projects, presentations holidays etc

Its for notes, I have an educational Disabillity meaning I cant write Legibly. Its SAAS that are paying for it not me. Im in college now so not too many lectures but in future there are bound to be more.

Staples are doing a Centrino laptop for £599. I was looking at this today and was very tempted. It has a 1.5ghz Pentium-M processer and DVD writer.

Edit - and now I've got one. It's a real good deal.

Seems like a good deal. Am i right? I don't need a really high spec supa dupa machine so this one suits me.

Yes I think your right - it is a good deal. However you should add an additional 256mb RAM.
