Whats the view on this from Acer? Am keen on decent sized hard drive and will be used for photos, ipod and general surfing. £399 from Amazon.

Just seen TL50, 80Gb, 9 Cell Batt 1501, vista home for £360 delivered.
Go through the small business link - can also get a core duo 6400 for £410 delivered
I have been looking at Dell and have more or less decided to get a home 6400 through the Rpoints link for 399.
I did get a gander at the small business prices though (through Kelkoo) and they look very good.
Is there a way that non business people can use the business links/prices.0 -
I got myself a nice little Acer about 3 weeks ago, at £499. Not a bad price for a nice bit of kit. I was going to buy it from Currys but they ran out of stock so I got it from Comet instead. Here's the specification:
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=373249
It's £489.98 if you buy it online but they will sell it to you at that price in the shop if you take a printout of that site as "proof" or just ask them to check out their own website in their back office. :money:
Nice bit of kit, I'm happy with it. Would have been extra pleased with the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor , but Core Duo itself ain't that bad. Difference is negligible as far as I can see.0 -
Howdy all
Don't know if anyone's posted this yet (63 pages is a lot to read through) but ebay shop Tier-1 Online is selling IBM Thinkpads of a slightly older generation (T40's etc) for around £150-200 at auction. Not pretty to look at but one of the best laptops in existance in my view.
A university friend has a very old thinkpad (1ghz chip) but with good maintenance it still outperforms most of the newer machines coming out.
Just my 2c.0 -

Hello MTW,
Just to answer your query, I bought a PC through Dell by clicking on the business links and it went through fine. I think I may have put a business name (can't remember now) but it didn't ask for any more info than that and it was delivered to my home address!
Hope that helps0 -
Try Dell online £399
For a dual core 1gb memory laptop 60gb SATA hard drive

dell laptops tend to be very sturdy and are used widely in the IT industry.

Refurbished, poor feedback and probable spam.
I've bought refurb'd computers from eBay, and there's nothing wrong with them, especially if you're looking for a cheaper deal.
Also, that eBay shop/seller's feedback is not poor - 99.3% transactions is actually very good (that's around 250 disgruntled customers out of 38,000 transactions). Consider if your regular high-street store had a feedback rating like with eBay's - I reckon many would do a lot worse off.
Not sure what you really mean by 'probable spam' though. If you're looking for a cheap decent laptop, eBay is a good source.0
