Roast tatties in a polystyrene box all round
I've never been to a carvery, so I think if that were going to change I'd want the whole sit down experience.0 -
To give you an idea, I'm the one in the airport that stares at all the pipes and beams in the cieling space and gets damned annoyed no one dusts them off:eek:
Now there's a business ideaCleaning in high places
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Papas fish & chippie in Weston is OK & does decent 'sit down' meals endorsed by various celebrities who visit the theatre there. Mind you, by the time they are playing Weston, their status as celebrities is questionable!0

I've only been in Greggs once...ever!
I've never been to Oggy's.....
My Greggs experience was of a very small shop, everyone being treated treadmill like and very rude customer services...oh and not very clear pricing/display, everything just crammed in with little chance to really sort through in the time in takes to get to the front (you spend most of it outside not being able to see anything)! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

The Cornwall pasty shop that we have gives the impression that they are made and cooked on the premises, not been there for a long time probably 4 times in all. The pasties are delivered at night in a freezer van all made and ready to cook.
I think they do well but we have 2 Greggs here as well, I don't remember going in there, shouldn't imagine there is much room with all the tattooed underage over weight Vicky Pollards hogging the place.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -

:rotfl:............A spokesman said: "It is not our place to determine right from wrong, or express ill-informed opinions about your lifestyle choices. It is our place to come up with ever more convenient and sophisticated fat delivery mechanisms.
"We are currently working on a large plastic syringe, with a wide hole at the end, that can be filled from a stainless steel vat behind the counter.
"We will liquidise some doughnuts and sausages until they take on the consistency of Mr Whippy ice cream. You then simply fill up your syringe with this pinkish-brown goo and inject it directly into your face."0 -
I live in Cheltenham and we have a fantastic pasty shop. They do a fantastic range of pasties but they also do baguettes (make them while you wait) soups, posh crisps, brownies, muffins etc. They are in a pretty good location (passing trade) but the real key is that their prices are realistic and the quality is spot on. They seem to have the balance and I am led to believe that they are doing a roaring trade. Greggs are a few doors down and all the chavs will go there cause they no know better! Greggs is mingin' in my opinion.
Price and quality range of foods as ever.
For me, the reason so many food vendors fail is they have the dream but they simply do not have the attention to detail - for example;
Food too cold (I want a hot pastie, not tepid - a very common problem)
Drinks / chocolate bars too warm - I never want a warm mars bar yet VERY few vendors think to put things like this in a chiller
Sausage rolls too greasy
Pasties seemingly hit and miss - one week its full of meat, the next it's all turnip
Awkward place to set down your coffee whilst pouring sugar
Mess - I am like an Austrian cafe owner we met - she constanly cleaned every moment for example when lifting out a pie, wiping where it sat
Too hot an enviroment - many people hate walknigninto boiling hot shops, with a down draght of warm air hitting your head as you enter - again lack of proper attention to detail
Clean looking staff
Easy to understand enviroment - no confusing lists on the wall that need 5 minutes to read
Freindly service - I know I get surly service often and I remember it
the loo smells a bit
no soap in loo - again this is down to disorganisation - I would check it every hour at least and have spares on show.
scuffs on the wall
don't wash EVERY SINGLE surface inc plant leaves, light bulbs, skirting boards, door frames, underneath the till etc0 -

Papas fish & chippie in Weston is OK & !
There's a case in point; chippies and thier wildly varying offerings.
It's a rare thing to find one that does;
Hot chips straight from the fryer (not siting around 7 minutes)
Not soggy chips
The perfect DRY batter, not full of pockets of wet fat, crisp and firm
Nice sausages - very rare indeed
Really spotless
Not cooked in oil that has a buttery tinge - yuk
Not using old oil
The best chippy by some margin is in Lynmouth Devon0
