Cheers everyone so far - very interesting.

Trying to work out what apart from pies and pasties compliments such an outlet best - is it worth bothering with sandwiches - for those summer days / the other half watching thier waste?

Open it in winter - hot pies less appealing on a sweltering summer's day.

    On a cold winter's day - irresistable.

Edit: Just seen your post. Hot soup is an obvious complement in winter, salad in summer. Or tarts/quiches that can be served warmish or eaten cold in summer. There was a posh pie shop when I was student at Oxford - did a roaring trade all year, I recall.

There are so many wonderful things you can put in pies, esp vegi fillings for posh, rich vegis.

Or a festival I was at last year did pasties/pies with mash and gravy for about a fiver - yummy.

Probably not - I gave that link to give an idea of the sort of outlet I have in mind - by the way thier website is glorious - I mean just put it on in the background now - you'll see what I mean

When you go to places like spain or italy, a good tip to find the best eateries is to wait until lunchtime and follow the workmen.
They will lead you away from the tourists and to a dingy looking local restaurant that serves great food and wine at local prices.

If a tourist tried it over here, they would end up in greggs and then the bookies.

Thinking back to my home town it may be worth befriending a butcher.

Local butcher near us makes pies to die for. Who ate all the pies?:p
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Should do well, so long as you have a meaty turnover. Hopefully profits won't be pasty and you can earn a good crust.

    Best of luck :)

I've often sat at home during cold, dark winter nights and thought of ways to make money. I came up with a great idea once. I bought a mercedes vito van and removed the back row of seats and had a queen size bed bolted in. I put cards in all the local bars, nightclubs and pizza houses. I was competing with the travel lodge's etc. £40 an hour it was. Had to fold when during one call I turned up at the local kebab house and was met by 2 blokes. I have nothing against gays but when they are doing it in the back of your van while you're listening to classic fm in the front you start to ask yourself questions.

Now that's what I call thinking outside the box - did you make a worthwhile living?
