so 1 council
for 25 years
so, nothing to do with a Labour government
wonder how many times Rochdale council has changed control over those 25 years, & how many Tory councillors theyve had in that period
& of course, there are quirks like that everywhere, including private companies
some places have free parking, others dont
some places subsidise canteens, some dont0 -
its also about time these hateful lefts learned that being sacked from one job doesn't mean getting a shoe in for another one a couple of months later after the "moron public" forget ala Mandy and Blunkett.
What is that hateful sharon shoosmith up to? I bet she will make it in the corporate world. hhahahahahahaah laughable. another useless incompetent left elevated well above her station in life.0 -
Bit I don't get is why public sector workers seem to get offered redundancy terms way above the statutary level. Is this a fair use of taxpayers money or just another stitch up?
er, so do lots & lots of private sector workers
i have had redundancy twice now, & both times the terms were better than what is legally required
oh, & lots of 'public sector workers' are actually employed by contractors, who set their own contracts0 -

i thought the corporate world was brilliant
if these people are so useless, surely the corporate world wouldnt employ them
or is it that they are in fact not useless, & therefore they get employed

In the civil service it is the quid pro quo of being paid less than the private sector equivalent for most jobs. Ditto pensions. The only people slightly better off are those right at the bottom of the civil service (on around £15k a year), but that is more a function of abysmal pay and conditions for the private sector equivalent.
BTW I have argued the truth of this point before, so I do not have time or inclination to argue the same point again. This gets more true the further up you go. How many CEO or board members of FTSE 100 companies earn less than £200k?Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Savage cuts.... or .... spending other people's money on things that dont achieve anything.
Not exactly a hard choice is it.0 -

Yeah but private companies can do what they like, because they pay for it - not the taxpayer. That is the point public sector workers continually fail to grasp.0 -

sorry can't citate the radio.
sack them all. and cut JSA. it should last 6 months and no more.
who cares what they do? they all think they are great and necessary and have so many "skills" surely they can do anything they want. they can start a cupcake factory? Open a hairdressers, start a restaurant or a security firm. Who cares.
In the LONG RUN - which is something the lefty never sees, it will be better. Yes, of course things might have to get a bit worse, but that is life.
there may be no tax cuts, but at least the rises will be smaller.
you completely FAIL at understanding economics/business/finance/money dont you :rotfl:
if no one is spending money, how do these people suddenly start businesses?
to run a business, you need paying customers
no paying customers = no business
if there are large cuts in the public sector, there will be follow on cuts in the private sector0 -

Again lefty, private firms can do whatever they like with their own money. Public workers are paid by taxpayer money and therefore, they should get the absolute minimum. I don't pay tax to employ all these incompetent middle managers.0
