Im fairly new to this site. Can anyone tell me if its true that Tesco accept any money off coupons - regardless of whether you have bought the item(s) or not? I have got away with this a couple of times but have had some comments from the sales assistant like "I dont remember you buying this" etc!

Hiya, yes it's true, I never shop in Tesco without using at least one coupon, sometimes loads.
Usually it's only at Sainsburys where the cashier comments that you haven't bought the item IMHO. In Tesco, just pick a young cashier every time, preferably a lad...they will scan everything! Failing that, pick an older man or shop in the evening when staff seem more relaxed about coupons. Also the bigger the store the more likely they MAY be to accept more coupons (e.g. my local Metro only take one but other stores take more).
Search the Chat Forum (above) for the keywords 'Tesco coupons' and you should find lots of discussions to help.
Also on this board is a Daily newspaper thread, designed for coupon-users, telling us all what coupons are in the paper that day. If there's a £2 or £3 coupon that scans in Tesco, we go and buy a dozen or more copies!
There is also a magazine offers thread on this board, constantly updated with the latest coupons in all magazines (saves searching through them yourself).
Final tip, always carry your coupon-stash in your bag/purse, or keep it in date order in your car if you drive. NEVER put them in a kitchen drawer or on the fridge/notice board, NEVER! or you will forget to use them....
I save an absolute fortune on all my shopping, Tesco/Asda and Waitrose should all accept some without buying the product.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Coupon-mad wrote:I get mine from several places:
eBay (check they're in date, not store specific and not copies/internet prints)
Newspapers (see today's Newspaper thread, go & buy several copies)
Magazines (see MBN's first post in her Magazine Offers thread on this board)
Buying products with coupons on packaging (Cereals, Daz washing powder)
Swapping with friends on forums, to make your stash more varied
National Childbirth Trust 'savings chequebooks' given out at nearly-new sales
Internet, prints & signing up for newsletters online where coupons are offered
Somerfield/Asda free magazines if you have the balls to offer these at Tesco!
I didn't manage to use all my QuickReads (bought cheaply on eBay as I missed the mail-out) and although they would still scan I chucked out the last few as they had expired (and I have a waiting coupon stash to take me through to the Spring anyway).
Finished the year well with an evening shop, young lad on the till was happy to scan all in my purse, which was over £50-worth including a few of the Quick-Reads and Somerfield £5 off coupons, as well as 'normal' ones. Paid just £2!
Hi Coupon Mad
I wanted to ask you about the Quick reads vouchers, have heard this mentioned elsewhere on other posts what is it?? Fantastic post by the way, did not know about the NCT cheque book, great tip going to one of them next week, shall be hovering for a cheque book!!! Anyway QuickReads what are they? And where should we be looking for future issue?????

"Coupon-mad said:If there's a £2 or £3 coupon that scans in Tesco, we go and buy a dozen or more copies!"
I bulk bought newspapers last month but was nearly caught out. I had an illness which put me out of action for a week and then I got refused at a Tesco Extra.
I narrowly managed to dispose of £75 worth of coupons but I'm scaling back this month, setting my goal at a more reasonable £20 worth to offload in a Tesco Metro.;)0 -

Ayrshire_guy, something like that happened to me last month. I bought 11 copies of the DM for the £4 Book coupon, then I was ill for 10 days!
I ended up giving them away, some people were kind enough to swap for them, on the paidtoshop forum. It's a very friendly forum and also great for swaps.
My local Metros do not take coupons for items I haven't purchased, so I just use T.'s own H&B coupons, or coupons for things I have bought.0 -
It is a difficult balance to get the right number of coupon. I often wish I had bought more of the papers with the vouchers. Now I tend to do lots of little shops and if I think I am running out of time to use up vouchers I will do an extra shop and stock up on things we wil use later on in the month washing powder, cereal, coffee etc0

Quick Read vouchers were given out last year as part of a promotion to encourage reading. This year they aren't issuing any vouchers but they still have promotional packs including pens and a free mug available if that's any consolation!0
