Holmes on Holmes

I'm interested to know what other forumistas - especially tradespeople - think of Mike Holmes and his TV shows.

Is his approach way over-the-top, or is it what all good contractors should be doing?

Also interested in observations about the differences between techniques, materials and priorities in Canada vs. UK. Having watched his shows, I was quite paranoid about waterproofing when I had my bathroom done. However, my plumber's view was that we don't need to worry so much over here - it's much more of an issue in North America because of the movement inherent in timber-framed houses.

What do we think...?

I love Mike Holmes show , he takes one look ..... and everything gets taken apart. His major problem is the extreme weather and a lot of timber frames.

Also interesting is the 'code' that they have , where we have Regs

I wonder if his 'fear' of mould is justified??

quite simply have no idea whatsoever who he is, or what he does


all i did was point out the reality that most people dont have sky/cable, & that including a link to some info about the subject would have been useful

Mike Homes is the star of Holmes on Homes a tv program airing on
the Real time / Shed channels which is available to those who recieve Cable / sky.


Think Tommy Walsh , but he heads up a team of builders , that correct problems in the building trade in Canada.

I have a feeling that my posting a link will be a waste of time. but if anyone was interested a google search makes interesting reading.

I'd say posting a link wouldn't be much use unless anyone who doesn't know of him wants to sit and watch at least 5hrs worth of the show to be able to answer the OP's question
