Dial-up connection - any good deals?

Hi

I'm in between broadband connections at the moment and it's gonna be a few days until we get connected again.

Thing is, I really need to get my emails on to my PC at home (posting this from work at the moment).

So, I need to use a dial-up connection to get them. Are there any FREE numbers I could dial with my modem? If not, could anyone recommend a non-subscription service which is reliable and fast?

Thanks.

I've used a1dial alot from my mum's house and that's quite fast for dial-up. It's local rate, so 1p in the evening and weekends.

I've used these in emergencies, first class service, completely free, youpay for the 0845 dial-up. Use Martin's Rate Checker, I think you can get it for 2p per min:-

If you don't want to bother signing up for an account, you can simply dial UK2net's service on 0845 665 3000 using the user name and password as uk2

If you sign up for a dial-up service online, doesn't the distance selling regulations entitle you to cancel within xx number of days ?

its 7 days.... but if you start using something like a dialup service, then no - its like buying a washing machine, use it constantly for 6 days, then send it back - because you dont like the colour, or something stupid. You'll probably find, that posably with a dialup service's terms and conditions, that you waive your rights to it on that occassion... with broadband it is different, as it normally takes more than a week for your connection to get up and running

If you're inbetween broadband connections and just looking for a reliable service for a few days, you could try:

    http://www.opensurfuk.com/

For a £1.50 premium text message from a mobile, you will be texted back with a dial-up username and password, and 0808 dial-up number that is good for 72 hours (3 days).

In my experience reliable. I am a very light dial-up user using 0845 but occasionally jump in to a open surf 3-day deal when I know I'm going to be on for a while over a weekend.

A couple of these £1.50 top ups may see you through.
