Asda and Tesco staff get paid for the overtime they have to work. Posties often work a couple of hours each day more than they're contracted to, and don't get paid any extra for those hours.

Well don't do it. Pretty simple aint it.

The loss and delay of mail recently is due to Royal Mail refusing to pay overtime to clear the backlog of mail caused by the strikers. Why should Royal Mail reward staff with overtime for going on strike?

Like I said if they don't like it go and get another job. You will have no sympathy from me or thousands of other businesses. You are getting paid to do a job...do it.

The union sprouts crap. I'm entitled to my opinion.

Your "opinion" isn't worth a gob of warm phlegm when it's based on misinformation and nonsense - sure, say what you like, but be prepared to be called on it when you talk such utter rubbish as this.

They're paid to do a job, as you say - can't blame them for getting a little agitated if their management unilaterally decide to change the terms and conditions they signed on for.

Like I say, though, if you're mug enough to take that sort of nonsense happily then that's up to you. Mind, judging from the "reasoning" displayed in some of your posts here, you possibly can't even work out you're being stiffed.

    Sad, that.

Where do you get the impression that I'd be happy to take it. If that option was put to me I'd be gone looking for work somewhere else.

Oh... and may I add if someone talked to me like you have just done face to face you would be on your backside.

:T Still everyone is open to their opinion. Including me.

    Errrm......

    :rotfl:, etc........

Well, I suppose it's a good thing that you're such a hard man - lack of brawn on top of your clear lack of brains would put you at a serious disadvantage in real life, wouldn't it?

Keep on with the "opinions", keyboard warrior - you're making a dull Friday much more fun!

Hi, im a postie and thought I would post here to answer any questions and take some abuse :o

I can honestly say the decisson to strike wasnt taken lightly, how many of us in reality do you think can afford to lose quite a large sum of pay over the dispute period.

Royal Mail has backed us into a corner through bullying and harassment and have left us with no other alternative. I have to say their propoganda campaign has worked well and many of the public believe the posties only actually work a couple of hours a day where in reality they work in the office for around 4 hours before even getting out to deliver. Jobs are constantly being cut and more work load is being added onto other delivery rounds and postmen are expected to complete the work through forced overtime (flexablilty).

There are so many facts that the public are unaware of its easy to see how opinion is against us, for example the union asked royal mail for independant assesors to come in and asses delivery jobs for a fair, reasonable amount of workload - Royal mail refused and prefer to continually add workload and bully and harrass the staff into doing it.

Royal Mail also claim poverty yet have made the largest profit in a decade at almost £400 million. Also with regard to the pension mess, would it be in that state if Royal Mail had not taked a 13 year payment break with the governments blessing just to boost profits. Also to rub salt into the wounds Adam crozier earnd around 3.5 million last year and local managers have just received between £4000 - £12,000 bonuses for hitting budget targets even though the people who actually do the work were told they havent made any savings and did not receive a penny and also there's no money in the pot for even a token pay rise this year.

Behind you all the way Mark. I'll be involved in a strike soon, and like you I really wish the unions did a better PR job. In our case, the union have actually come up with the savings the company wants, but they aren't interested, just obsessed with changing our contracts.

Unlike you, I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to defend my corner online. :o
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T
