  • OK, I've read all of this thread and think it's great idea. We're having our first Christmas with DS (who is 4 this year) all on our own, no one staying , no dashing about so a hamper will be great as we'll be able to chill out and enjoy it. I'll keep you posted and thanks for so many great ideas.

Does she like Nesquick? You could use that I suppose, although I don't know how nice all the toppings might be with it...

Or on a similar vein, normal milkshake mix and replace the marshmallows/choc chips that would be in a normal Snowman Soup with something that can be added to the milkshake (like crushed Oreos in a chocolate milkshake).

Hi - great idea, thanks, DD loves milkshakes so its gonna be Nesquick

  • I do something similar but call it a bath and bed pack lol.

    They each get:

    a new bath toy
    bubble bath
    shampoo
    conditioner
angel bath bomb for my dd
santa bath bomb for ds (both from lush)
    toothbrush
    toothpaste
    new pjs
    new slippers
    new dressing gown
    a christmas book
a giant choc coin or bag of coins
    snowman soup
    reindeer food

We have the same routine every christmas eve. First thing in the mornign I go to get the fresh veg while hubby has the kids, then we go to soft play to burn off excess energy (tires the kids out too lol), then its takeaway for tea, kids open their bath and bed packs, have a bath and into new pjs, we all settle down with some choc and watch a christmas film with our snowman soup, then its time to srpinkle the reindeer food and off to bed for kids before hubby and I prep the veg and leave the pressies out and finally collapse about 3am only to be woken about 6am by excited kids lol.

  • normally give my kiddies new pj's, dressing gowns and slippers on xmas eve (so they look nice in the pics lol) but after seeing rustys last year have borrowed the idea for this year lol
    so far i've got
2x storage boxes, the ones with chalkboard on the side 2for£5 from instore
    disneys cars bath crayons
    ben 10 fleece blanket

and thats it so far, don't have anything for my oldest sons hamper (11)
the youngest is 3 - (4 in feb) so its easy to get stuff for him but much harder for the older one who is pretty much only into football and music, planning to get a book each for them and madagascar 2 with tesco voucher first bargain of xmas! but not quite sure of what else and i know i'll still struggle for my oldest same goes for their stockings, the little one is easy.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

Absolutely love this thread! THANK YOU!!!

Just sat and read it all from the beginning and am now very exciting!! Normally do new pyjamas on xmas eve but this year I'm going to make up a hamper now - one for all the family to share.

Off to Primark tomorrow too so will be on the look on for bargains to add - already got pyjamas, slipper socks, dvd, book, toothbrush, flannel.

Off to research snowman soup now!!!

    Thanks again everyone! x x
  • Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!
I am so pleased i stumbled upon this thread! I've got most of my stuff for the hamper but would normally just get the kids in the bath and new pj's, so doing it in this way is brilliant! ALSO, and i know its a little late but i found out about the christmas elves some of you do, and loved the idea so have ordered a little snowman ;) he should be here tomorrow. My children are 5,3,1 and normally on xmas eve we go out, pantomine, farm etc however id got myself into a right tiz this year as i am, for the first time in a loooong time, in my wheelchair so wont be going anywhere. Obviously very upset as this is our little tradition and i didnt want to let the kids down. However now i've found out about the hampers i am sure the kids will be more than happy!!! plus, its saved me a FORTUNE! thankyou!!!!!
I've read all the post from page one and got some cracking ideas! i shall post a list shortly to she what you all think. Hubby is going to take me out for the first time in the wheelchair today, and we are going to pop to the 99p shop, superdrug and primark to get the last few bits......wish me luck!!! xxxxxxxx
