    Hmmm...possibly a tad over-indulged / spoiled?
My husband is kind and generous but would soon run out of patience for that sort of behaviour!
Perhaps I' just not so lucky.

Hmm sarymclary it was kind of a jokey post as to my day to day thoughts and your reply is rather deep!
i am no where near the point of buying things for the sake of it infact i never do that, everything we buy is something we need/want and gets used..im deff not one of those people who stuffs things to the back of the wardrobe!
I understand the difference with Monk and yes i do like things to be perfect..there is i dont think any reason for this in my head but i guess something must make me like it?!
For example if there are 15 packs of chicken in the supermarket i will go through most of them to determine that i ahve the best pack!..if there are 14 metal money boxes i will check that i have one with no flaws or dents..think this stems from getting things home and realsising they are scratched or ruined before i have used them!
Basically i like buying things we need but i have great difficulty in doing so..kezzae your post summed it up a treat for me with the sink.this is me!..funnily enough i want a black sink for our kitchen and i have to say after months of deciding i am sure that is what i want..but with other things i can be so like you and change my mind incessively..my poor hubby would not be like yours though..think he would go mad..yours must be very patient!!
Artytarty you may have got the wrong point of my post as i am not spolit as work for everyhting i buy, everything is paid for and we don't even own a credit card so that's why i find it so important that what we get has to be 'right'!

I think comparing your desire for things to be right and the right price is very different to Monks OCD to be fair - I'm totally with Sarymclary on that one.

I find it hard to part from my money (well since becoming an MSE addict I do) and will think long and hard over what to choose etc - however I don't go and buy say a toaster because I fancy one - I buy one because I need a new toaster. Ditto kettle. I then check mentally what I want from it: Match kitchen, max price, features if relevant etc. I may go to a few shops or online if it's not urgent and check for best deal and order. Once I have paid I VERY rarely then go back and look again - why would I want to upset myself to find 2 months later that it's on sale??? I still like my toaster/kettle/whatever - so why keep looking for another replacement which is all you're doing :)

Handbags... Husband has told me for 12 months I'm allowed a posh handbag - I live really close to a retail outlet and regularly have a nose - nothing I see feels worth the money so still I have my trusted Tesco handbag :) On saturday I decided that infact I'd rather have some new underwear instead of a handbag so went and picked and ordered the set I wanted - DH is paying for it for me instead of the bag :) Until I need a new set of underwear I won't be reading catalogs or going to underwear shops - so I won't see if it's on sale (unlikely in my size anyway) or something prettier has come in...

If I did I'd only end up getting depressed and probable spending money I shouldn't or would regret :)

I am so like that too.. I need to seee EVERYTHING when i go shopping... My town is quite small... so i started shopping online.. i do get a bit dissapointed when the things arrived and i keep looking for bargains, and i feel i can not help it. I was not like this before, but now everytime i fight with my hubby.. my way to make myself feel better is to get me a present. I am trying really hard to save and not buy anything else till january. I have stopped looking the grabbit now forum.. and HDUK.

If you find yourself with that problem then its a sure sign that you are spending too much on material possessions.
You need a good long look at what is important and what isnt and budget accordingly.

Never understood the need for a designer handbag (or a designer anything, for that matter). I've got a little rucksack, which is far more practical and much easier on my shoulders...
  • I think you just have way too much time on your hands. It's easy to get obsessive about things when you aren't busy. When things are crazy you just don't have the time :)

My mum does it too! She will be pining for something for ages, after months (has been years!!) of searching for it cheaply she will finally get it, after the days of excitement waiting for it to come in the post of course, only to find something wrong with it immediately. She is in no way ungrateful, she will be very happy but then she will notice something that she doesn't quite like on it! Lol.

We have a joke of "why doesn't wine taste like ribena!" She loves the idea of something but the reality is altogether different! I find it really amusing tbh, it is a little quirk of hers and I love it! :D
