  • (? did they ever bring out the v8 75?)

Yes, you don't see many. They sound wonderful though!! Only 260bhp I think. Which is pretty naff!
  • Ahhh but most v8's are highly tuneable (apparently 500 bhp is easy/cheap to attain lol)
Guy at work's scooby apparently was only 250 bhp.

I'll add it to the list.

is that not just a 2.0 or a 2.5 litre 4 cylinder turbo though? i dont think the subaru is a v8.

Yep, 2 litre I think. More about it's quite cheap to shaft a scooby (just ask shaggy).
Think it was about 210 bhp as standard an he claimed the exhaust put it up to 250 (full of crap). I had the v6 827 at about 175 BHP.
    He'd paid over 10k, i'd paid £750.

It's not all power to weight, I think power to £ plays a big part as well.

a mate of mine bought a g reg merc 500 sec at auction a few years ago. it was quite fast for a car that size but the torque was great. it guzzled the petrol though if it was floored. just a shame it cost a lot to buy even second hand parts.

    I'm a closet Rover fan I'm afraid. Started with an 820, then an 827, then another 827, then a V8 sd1 and finally a 3.9 v8 Range Rover.
Nothing pipe and slippers about them.

ANY luxury saloon has that image - not just Rover- although the 75 does tend to epitomise it.Personally, i quite find it appealing as it gives an air of seniority. And it's always nice to have lots of people remind me of my youthfullness by saying"What's a young guy like you doing in a grandad motor?"
They only sold a couple of hundred V8s - and some are very rare specs and trims within the V8 range
