Currys - And an xbox 360 :(

Hey peeps.

How do i stand on this...
Around 2 years ago i brought a 360 on credit still paying to this day along with 5 years what ever happens, since buying it i have returned it 8 times due to fault.. originally i brought the prem version and since currys have let me swap it for the elite at no extra cost as the prices were around the same..

Now normally i take the 360 into currys they fire it up see the red lights and instant replacement but the last 2 times currys have instisted it be returned to microsoft annoying the hell out of me as its 2-3 weeks with out the 360 - which is used as a media player (dvds-streaming xvids) and not really to play games and tbh i watch loads of films on a regular basis so as the main dvd player in the house is missed! with 2 kids ;)....Now 3 months ago ring of death send the 360 off to microsoft and replaced now again today JUST 3 months later ROD!!!!! grrrr.... im fed up tbh i know its not currys fault but i dont think it is mine either, and im thinking that the goods (360) is not fit for purpose and would prefer a more reliable product?

Is this wrong of me to think like this? Would a video games system be expected to last longer than 2 years without a fault (i have 8 returns though lol)? and do i have a leg to stand on if i go into currys all guns blazing? also any hints on the correct thing to say if i do or something to print out to inforce my complaint?

I know i have a credit agreement with the 360 and i dont want to break it prefer to swap for a better product if thats a possibility?

any help

sorry if it sounds harsh but do you really think you have an extra special case over the millions of other who bought that very large useless paperweight?

its a VERY well known issue, and you have no case tbh unless you are willing to get part exchange which by now will be next to nothing.

you have no right to an alternative product.

im afraid you have to put up with what you have bought

in my very bias opinion, its what 360 owners deserve for being so cheap.

    no offence

but as i said the legal unbias view is your only hope is keep at the replacements or get a possible very small partial refund to put towards a new ps3 that will last you 10 years.

What should people buy instead then? If you want a non-hand-held console then you have a choice between a Play Station an X-Box or a Wii. Is one of these better than the others in terms of reliability?

    is that a serious question?

the wii which i dont like either and the ps3 both have superior reliability

the most common ps3 fault is hdd errors which can be resolved by a cheap new hdd that involves a few screws undoing.

According to watchdog over the last couple of weeks PS3's are just as bad as x-boxes, except with them it's the yellow light of death instead of the red ring of death.

And the Wii is cheaper than an x-box so I don't know how you can call x-box owners "cheap".

cheap in terms of what they want for their money, and in their poor choice of product. so the wii is very basic in hardware and that is reflected in the price.

as for the yellow light, it indicates a "general hardware failure" so is used for multiple issues.

read that as it coincides with my posts and you will see how bad the 360 is if somehow you have not been on earth for the past few years and have not seen the millions of posts, threads, blogs, and reports on RROD.

    OP,dodging the fanboy
are you streaming HD content or just SD xvids?
if so you may want to look into an xbox 1 softmodded with XBMC
better media player than any current gen console for non HD content

Well in my opinion, the OP didn't ask for such an !!! to come along and make sarcastic comments about their choice in gaming console. The xbox consoles certainly are NOT cheap, and there's not that much of a choice and the OP certainly isn't the first person to be asking this question.

However, I'm pretty sure that you are going to be stuck with the xbox and your credit agreement unless you get a sympathetic manager to talk to who might be able to let you swap it for a product of similar value or something like that. I don't think you'll get a refund (especially as you paid on credit).

I knew this would happen :( who cares which is best?

anyway are you saying that because the Xbox 360 is known to have problems ( which i think is a joke ) i have legally agreed to "Put up with it" as you say..?
Or would you say that an new console on average every 3-4 months is excessive even in the light of microsofts problems.. i have to admit when i brought it i failed to see the part explaining i would be constantly returning it..
And as daft as it may sound i do have a life and most of the time although completely gutted by this fact don't sit on the interent reading millions of posts, threads, blogs and reports on RROD.. but i will admit i plan on spending loads of time doing this as it does sound .... FUN!
I went to a shop my kids went daddy i want a xbox so i brought it.

Ohh hang on im sure i even posted this in Consumer rights..

Please keep this to actual Consumer rights and legally what im entitled to do, dont even try and insult me by saying im "Cheap" thats just insulting and i ask it be took back

SD xvids but have been doing some converts of x264 to wmvhd for some hd stuff.
Mostly xvids though tv series etc hence the 360 just being easy
