Good Morning all,
We are still working hard on improving the speeed and we thought we had found some extra capacity last week but unfortunately it takes a really busy day to test this and those come in on a weekly cycle and it looks like this capacity didnt fix the issues.
Were the error messages you saw describing database errors or something else? Are posts not uploading because you are seeing the error messages instead?
We are certainly working on it, however each time we improve issues it speeds up until we reach the next bottleneck - I hope that for 6/7 of the week the speed on the site is fine as it is for us in the office and at home it is just when we send out Martins Weekly Tip that it drives a lot of traffic this way in a fairly small period of time that we need to improve. We are also trying to improve things with the minimum amount of disruption to you and this sometimes draws out the update process.
I know it maybe taking a bit of time, but please bare with us on this one. We are working hard to improve things for you in the hope that the site can remain at full speed at any point during the week.
Thanks

ive been seeing database errors and could not connect to something-or-other errors...mostly could not coonect. would it help if we posted what type of error message we were seeing into this thread in future?
as for the posts, is says "uploading quick reply" for example.. and just doesnt bother. for example, an earlier post of mine in this thread took three attempts to post because the system just would not upload. now i know i talk a lot of rubbish, but that sort of censorship is just excessive
sorry for moaning - i *know* you're working hard behind the scenes, but again, as i have already said, this has been an ongoing problem for a while now, and people still seem to be having more problems than are ideal, and i dont think people really feel like theyve seen much of an improvement yet.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

My perception is of a deterioration since work has been happening on the servers. The main problem is the blank 'hanging' page as it thinks about loading.
Navigating the forum indexes (or should that be indices???) is fine, but loading the actual postings seems to be the bottleneck.0 -
think yourself lucky Les..i was having that problem with this site for a good few weeks before the 'upgrade' :rolleyes:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Well the site has been slow for me for what seems like months. I've recently had to go back to dialup for a week or two and now (under IE) the site is at the limit of usability for me.
Something I have noticed is that when I visit this site using IE, the amount of data I am sending out is almost double that I am receiving. All that outbound data is severely restricting the flow of data inward under dialup - hence pages are taking up to 5 mins to load.
At first, I thought my computer had contracted something nasty, but it only happens when visiting this site. Stranger still, when I browse this site using Firefox, not only does this problem of my computer transmitting large volumes of data go away, but the speed of the site picks up dramatically - to the point that it's faster using Firefox and dialup than it was using broadband and IE. I'm at a loss to explain it. Ideas anyone?0 -
Hey Guys,
We made some more changes this morning which will hopefully again improve the forum speeds. It seems fairly responsive today but are not seeing "peak" usage. However, we would like to know if anyone sees any database error messages - if so could you just post that you did on here, please use common sense when reporting though, if there are a number of other people reporting the same error around the same time please do not report.
Thanks

I do find a slight hang of about 2-5 seconds before a rapid page download.
