Had my first experience of standing out like a sore thumb last night! Had a pub visit out in the countryside and it looked like a lovely village pub on the internet. Well, it was like stepping back in time when we entered. Shame we can't comment on the fixtures and fittings as this particular pub could do with a refurb! Don't think it has been decorated since the 60's! There was only one customer in there when we entered and we got a strange look when we asked if we could order some food!0

Wish my day had started like that. Instead we've got a leaky roof STILL, despite having paid £250 a few days ago to the roofer. Looks like we are going to have to fork out for a new roof, which is going to cost thousands. I'd been really happy with the income I'm getting from MSing, but costs like that just make it seem completely insignificant.
Never mind, must stop moaning and get out there shopping. On the up side I've just picked up a bank job on GFK which is on the way to my first ESA travel agent today. Then a computer enquiry for Bare, a phone shop for GR and back in time to pick my DS up from nursery.0 -
There's been something weird going on with my local gapburgers. I keep being offered reciepts. I always really with 'umm, yeah, please' and a surprised look.
I actually had a classic a couple of weeks ago. It was the last weekday in October, and they were treating every single lone adult with kid gloves. Obviously realised they were due a shop, and treating us all like royalty.0 -

I did my first react shop yesterday - a concession in a department store.
IT WENT LIKE THIS:
I was out shopping with the mother in-law, son and grandaughter. I told them what i was doing and asked them to take the little one for a wander...not a problem now for the shop.
Assistant was really helpful finding items with me....then... i entered the changing room, followed by the grandaughter Argh, who had been brought over to the shop and let out of the pushchair.
Assistant still very helpful, even with a 13month around her legs.
Then for the purchase..........came out of changing room holding two tops, both nice asking the assistant for her final help on which to buy.............only for the mother in-law to take one from me and proceed to the till to pay for it (as i gift, for my special lunch i had just made up). Not part of my plan........I had to buy the other top, to return it later and keep the top from the mother in-law as she kept the receipt!!!
Did make for an interesting shop, But difficult report to remembeer the details of the conversations.
Next time i'm going alone!!!!!!!!!0 -

Could it be that they recognise you, or that they know when the MSer is going to be visiting, or do you mean you visit regularly and they always do it??
It happened to me a while back, drive-thru job, asked if I wanted a receipt, said yes, and saw it flash on the screen about GapBuster, got the receipt and it said GapBuster on it. It was the quickest and friendliest service ever. So when I got home, I cancelled the job, so they'll have been re-shopped thinking they'd already been shopped! Might teach them not to be smart-!!!!!! in the future.0 -
Just to clarify, yesterday when someone suggested that the burger staff know when to expect shoppers there was general outcry and lots of "I wish" so I don't think they do get told.
There is however a general pattern. 2 shops a month and over the year there is an equal number of morning, lunch and dinner services. So toward the end of the year they can work out roughly what time they might be shopped.
Also another bit that I recalled after I posted was that when someone mentioned about people being sacked both the person who mentioned it and the gyp person implied that they must have done something wrong!!
In terms of going alone it was pretty much said that it wouldn't be changing. There are too many distractions with other people and they want your full attention. Some of the managers said that some shoppers haven't gone alone and have had toddlers with them who distracted them at the till but then they've marked the staff down for not being attentive. With some of the stories they told us it's no wonder we've got a bad name!!
