Yup, last time I did them I could get 2 soft drinks, but not this time, so I've decided not to do it even though the coffee sounds rather nice! :o

Lil me, I won't quote you as it's such a long post - but I did want to thank you - that was really interesting. I don't do the burgers myself, so it doesn't affect me directly, but it's interesting in general terms as some of it must apply to other clients, too.

Not impressed with the MSers who said they are in it for free food. It's rarely free anyway, with what gyp pay, but joking aside, it doesn't portray us in a good light.

Just to echo what Scaerdy has said & Thank you Lil Me. I only do burgers when Gyp phone & beg lol. I don't really like them (the burgers lol) :shhh:.

I got invited to one of the forums about 6 months ago but unfortunately I couldn't get the time off work. I was asked for an email of my views and given the subjects being discussed. I would have loved to have gone.

    Lil_me - thanks for sharing!

Sounds like they had a few scroats there who don't take MSing seriously/aren't doing it for the right reasons, but hey ho!

Interesting point about "the Canadian way". I think this is a must tbh. Also, I simply do not believe that the managers do not know when they're going to be shopped. It is my belief that this info is "leaked" perhaps to area managers, who tell the individual outlets so as to avoid an !!!!-kicking if the results are !!!!.

Was anything mentioned about not having to ask for receipts? I mean, this really is the clincher as to whether they figure out you're MSing them or not - did anyone suggest a way around this? Left/right? Photo of outlet? Descriptions/name of member of staff?

Also, do you mind me asking how much Gyp paid you for this session?

Man, I'd have soooo loved to have been invited to one of these! :(

Oh, one last point, would you mind PMing me with details of the top-secret clients that were mentioned? I'm VERY interested in this as it might be bribery info for when they next call me!

ooh me too if poss!
  • Gap just called me to clarify a question I had re the stamp jobs and the new scenario.

So for anyone who is wondering you need to get 2 receipts. 1 for the postage for the letter if it is sent and 1 for the purchase. She told me to scan them together and send as 1 file.
Unfortunately she wouldnt give me back my burgers and pizzas :(:(

There was a forum for disgrunted burger employees around some time ago, and they used to register as shoppers and check when a MS was due. Some used to do the shops too and give their mates excellent reports.

Then the question about Gap passing on your personal info to the client appeared in the question list and the forum vanished.

I've sometimes wondered if they have another forum somewhere else and are still guilty of doing this.
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks Lil_me - great post and a further insight in to GAP and how they are operating. Alot of what you mentioned I had guessed (from the amount of pressure and calls I get to do burger jobs). No mention as to why shoppers are being dropped though?

I suspect Gyp are struggling with volume and resources to the UK department and having such a low UK presence may result in more of these forums.

Interesting to see that many burger retailers did not know of the special projects being done, which seems to suggest that they do not have too much insight in to the booking and forthcoming mystery shops process.

Thats actually quite clever, I should give them more credit in future!

I would bet they are still doing it, after all as long as they're not accepting the jobs any more then strictly speaking they're not breaking any rules are they? and although they don't know the exact date of when they will be shopped they'll know that roughly it'll be on 1 of 4 days at such in such a time. Very very sneeky.

They'd be able to see the time slot and the day's slot, but not the available dates.

I mean, they'd be able to see the category of the job e.g. "Mon-Thu 0700-1000", but they'd not be able to see WHICH Mon-Thu's are available to do the job on. To see that, you need to answer the questions about "are you a burger flipper" etc...the same questions that we all have to answer every couple of months or so.

I've seen similar when I was googling to read up about Gap, I think it was a guy who'd been fired and was out for revenge so he was telling people to register with gyp and give them sh*t reports.
